The roll of the School Board

I'm tired of hearing school board members defend the teachers unions and claim they are only looking out for the students.
First of all, school board members aren't supposed to support the teachers unions, they are supposed to be there to support the taxpayers. The fact they think they're supposed to side with the unions only proves how ignorant and incompetent they truly are.
The administration is supposed to look out for the interests of the school district, they do this by making rules and setting policy by which the district will run. The teachers work directly for the administration. The School Board are chosen by the voice of the people in their part of the district they represent.
In negotiations, the administration represents the faculty and staff, the school board represents the taxpayers. In states where there are teachers unions, the union represents the interests of the teacher and administration also.
So, if the school board members think they are there to represent the teachers, you have 3 entities, all sitting on the same side of the table, making decisions the taxpayers will be forced to comply with... with absolutely no say in it.
So, school board members. Quit being incompetent, corrupt, grinning ninnies of the teachers unions. If you insist on being such, you are only thieves, robbing the taxpayers every time you cash a paycheck.
If you aren't going to represent the taxpayers, why should the taxpayers continue to pay you?

Can someone please explain to Ted that a) Schoolteachers are taxpayers and b) ensuring that schoolteachers are compensated sufficiently to attract and retain well qualified staff is entirely consistent with looking out for the taxpayer's interests?

Oh, and btw moron, in Wisconsin, there was a net gain of over 1200 teachers this year from last. So the people getting to have their say WORKS!!!

Is there any part of your life worth living?
You mean aside from the fame, the fortune, the women, the fun career, the friends and stuff like that? Watching you utterly discredit yourself by falling into verbal violence any time someone disagrees with you is pure comedy gold.
Stay classy, Ted. Don't ever change.

I always thought the role of the school board was to look out for the best interests of the students. It seems they're the forgotten ones in most of the budget battles and political fights these days and they're the ones who matter to the future of our nation the most as far as I'm concerned. Some things are just more important than lower taxes!

That is part of looking out for the good of the community. All parties SHOULD be looking out for the best interest of the students, since that is the ONLY purpose of the schools. However, that's been lost, and like you said, they become the forgotten ones.
Yes, there are things more important than lower taxes, some of which are waste and corruption. The school board is supposed to be made up of citizens who don't answer to the teachers, administration or public unions. They are supposed to be keeping an eye on them. But when the school board becomes just another arm of administration and unions, it loses site of what it's meant to be.
and education suffers.

U should watch a documentary on netflix called waiting for super man. It is about our public school system and how the unions are ruining it...among other people. It is an eye opener.
