What kind of ornaments do you like to put on your Christmas tree?

I just put up our tree and was thinking about the types of ornaments I as putting on its branches. Most of my decorations are from places I have lived or visited like Europe, and several states I have been to. Such ornaments are usually some kind of Christian symbol like an angel or star. I have seen TV shows where Christmas trees are decorated using a theme like Victorian, cowboy, cartoon, modern, or even nautical. What kinds of ornaments do you like to put on your tree?

We put up all sorts of different ornaments. Each of them has it's own reasons for being there. I have ornaments from when I was a child, as well as ornaments that I made as a child. I have ornaments that I made that have the kids school pictures inside, that go all the way from kindergarten through college. Each year when my kids were little, I'd host a neighborhood party, and all the neighbor kids would come. We'd have a craft day of it, and they'd all make a special ornament for their parents. All those years of memories are on the tree. I don't do one special theme, but a nice mixture of the past and present. Now my grandchildren make ornaments for their parents (and my tree). This year it was sand casted stars. I also have ornaments that have been in the family since the mid 1800's, and tiny sheep from my great Uncles tree. Pretty 'new' style Christmas trees are nice too, but my family enjoys the history of our families that are represented on our tree! I have to laugh, sometimes guests often spend a long time looking through the branches to see all the different ornaments.
