Today i was at the mall with my gal and her sister we were looking for some pants that she needed for something I don't know. Anyway as we were cruising around the mall we noticed that as the minutes pass by tons of people are coming in at the truck loads and in hour the mall was buzzing with people and that it is clearly hard to walk around without stepping on other peoples shoes or worse toes. So we decided to hurry and pick up the pants of my gals sister and be over with the malling. So my question is are malls sign of economic mini-rise or are a lot of people just like the air conditioning and the views of the Christmas decors. What do you think guys???

Whether to eat, to shop or just walk around! - Shopping Mall
I'd say the rising of malls here and there is a sign of economic growth. But not all people who go malling are really shopping around. Most of them just wanna enjoy the cool and lively environment. Where on earth can you find free aircondition and free wi-fi but in malls? Ha!ha!ha!

Salonga i will mark you as the best response, your answer was basic yet was exactly what i was longing to read, practicality, is the word, Free A/C free seats, free internet and people walking around free to look at beautiful women handsome men and interesting styles of clothes and actions also things that they wear and use. Malls for some a place to be a consumer and a place to be a freeloader ( in a legal way i should say, nothing wrong about that right). Salonga hope we'll be friends here in mylot...

Well I would like to think that the buzz was Christmas shopper especially those who like to shop late. I don't think that there will be a mini economic rise anytime soon.I think that using malls in this fashion as an economic indicator is not a good economic indicator .It does show that the recession isn't as deep as thought

Hey ronnyb, Yeah I guess so but if you come to think about it if it is not Christmas time and if the books of malls says they have increased sales by a mile then I guess we can use this as an indicator since how can people spend more if they don't have more and how come more people have extra cash, Isn't that economic growth most probably if it is isolated like in just one mall or if the mall have sales, but what if it happens simultaneously and in different regions of the country, would it not mean that more people have more money to spend and more people have jobs so that they have money to spend and that more consumers means more products sold, then more products will be required and more raw materials need to be produced and that more laborers are required to change raw materials into finish products. So I ask is it not possible to use malls as an indicator of economic growth???

I don't know. It could be. I do know a lot of people that are not paying their bills this month in order to shop for Christmas which I think is just crazy. Others will rack up credit cards and worry about the payments later. I,personally, haven't felt the economy improve and neither has my wallet. It seems to get worse and worse. Still, I work in an expensive convenience store and I am just amazed at the large amounts of money people will spend in there on things that are not necessities and things that could be bought so much cheaper elsewhere. So maybe for some there is some improvement in the economy. We can only hope.

I think some of us back here does the same thing shelving off bills and putting first in finances, buying gifts that are not a necessity. I think back there the economy for now is stable according to cnn but i hope it becomes better after a while. Thanks for commenting sid556.

Usually, malls are jampacked on Decemeber. People has to go to the mall to buy gifts, clothes and foods to prepare for the Christmas season and New year. They want to buy as early as now, so they are still in stock. Besides, with all the Christmas activities, everybody seems to go to the mall to buy what they have to wear and what they have to give. Such is the way at the malls, when December comes, because people have received their 13th month pay and some have their additional money, bonus.

That is soo true christmas here back home is the best a lot of the christmas decors fill the malls and enticing things to be sold for family and friends and yupp the occasional 13th month pay is what we all wait for because first of all it's extra money and it is something we know we truelly worked for the whole year round, thanks for commenting simplyd merry christams.

I don't know what your mall looks like. We don't have them that much in our country. But if people go over there during this time of the year it's mostly because it's warm (it's freezing outside) and because of the atmosphere. Many don't even buy anything. It's just being out, window shopping and a visit to the supermarket.

Malls contribute to the economic activities of the country because of the job opportunities they provide to the employees as well as to the business owners. So definitely, they contribute to the rise in economy. But as to what extent, that I don't know :) The current season and the AC also are reasons behind the mass of people trooping to the malls.

Wow pretty straight forward anyway yupp i think AC is one of the reasons, and of course economy grows if people spends right so kudos to you Queen_11 and to our national bird that is your picture tc and merry chistmas and a happy new year to you and your family.

may it be December or not its just there are so many people who goes to the mall with out buying anything. i think they were just there to have some AC or just hang around.. I just don't get those people who goes there without doing anything, adding the population up,they are spending fare without doing anything at all.. If its economic rise.. OMG! I'm picturing it if there will be another economic rise again..:)
