A thesaurus is like a dictionary but instead of defining what words mean, it lists synonyms (and antonyms). If you want to try it, just go to thesaurus.com

There are software for grammar but I guess they are not that well to detect errors. What you can do is find online sites that offers lesson or activities to improve your grammar like grammar monster.com. I also see these sites quite useful to check grammar errors: spellcheckplus.com and onlinecorrection.com.

I am a greenhorn when it comes to computer software. I am learning though. I am also guilty of committing a lot of grammatical errors in my writing but I am pacified knowing that our treasured friends here wouldn't mind at all and would respond all the same as though they have just read a flawless discussion.
