Topics and Interests

I have noticed that a topic can cover several interests. For example, a topic that talks about 'writing' can come under 'make money' ' things that I like to do' 'hobbies' and so on. How to ensure that users here do not miss the topics that one creates that could come under different interests?

You are right that a particular subject could be started under more than one 'interest'.
When in doubt I start a new post under the interest 'People' or 'Life'.
I believe it is the safe bet to start any discussion under the interest 'People'.
It helps me get more responses to my discussions.

If 'interests' are monitored by myLot Admin that will help in not having different interests for one topic.

It would help users here a lot if we were allowed to post our topics under different interests. May be some kind of software could make this possible.

hi allknowing I try to p ut my discussions where they will get the most readers like people or life or mylot as I get a lot of
teaspoons so I do get noticed a lot as I try to put them in the best interest. Life and People and mylot get a lot of traffic which I like.

Not all topics I assume can go under these interests such as 'gardening', It can also go under interests such as flowers, fruits, hobbies,'things I like to do'.... There are several interests where a topic can go under and that is why I feel topics do not get hundred percent attention. Nor do users get to see hundred percent of topics in which they are interested.
It is time consuming to check for topics as they can be placed under different interests. You must be knowing about 'myLot, myLots, myLot.com ......!!!

Where a discussion appears is determined by the tags someone uses for their discussions. The more diverse the tags, the more likely a discussion will appear under different interests. You can do a search of mylot to find discussions on a topic. Doing a search also helps to avoid posting the same discussion as someone else.

Heyya allknowing! I think the best bet is to include all the possible interest categories in the key word section. I know that there are a lot of discussions that I start which could be under many different interests too. I have noticed that the keywords will have them come up in the box on the right if they have some of they are similar in nature.

It all depends on the method one follows in searching for topics. There are ofcourse the recent topics and so on but if one were to look under interests then this problem crops up. To go by key words one needs to spend time on the search engine which I must confess I never do.

The choice of interest that we used for our topic or question is a strategy for the writer. For instance, you want to attract those readers who wishes to earn online, use an interest on Work From Home.
For me, I make sure that the readers don't misses my question by phrasing my question in a way that would easily attract readers.

You have a nice idea but it also depends on users who will for example will only look for the 'make money online' interest in which case the topic under the interest 'work from home' will not be searched for!

Yeah, sometimes its confusing me too.. It can be in any other interest but whenever I start a new topic it make sure it will be placed in correct interest. The one that indicates the topic very well will be my choice. Like writing, if the topic is solely about writing during free time then I will put it under hobbies, if its about writing as a job then it could be in make money. If its about the way on how we should write then it should be under writing topic. BUt What I see now is many discussion starter like to put their topic in popular interests than bothering bothering about the correct interest they should placed it. That can be accepted too.(^^)

I have many methods in choosing the topics and going by interests is part of it but as I said I would have missed so many topics as they would have been placed under interests which I may not be 'interested' in

best thing is best to choose the correct interest and then done within a discussion.
If you can not know where is best to place your pravlno topic just a general discussion to cover all.

There is nothing like 'correct interest' as there are several interests that a topic would come under. For example there are interests such myLot, Mylots, Mylot.com .....

It is good to choose an interest everytime you start a discussion. It make it easy to search the discussion you started or other discussions under that category.
