Everytime we are asked to read an article, I can't seem to understand the first time I read it. I have to re-read it again so that I will understand what it is trying to convey. I am okay for those article which are just about news or entertainment. But when it needs critical analysis, it requires to read it twice or more. Well, this is my problem. Are we on the same boat? Do you have any suggestions for me?

Count me in! I used to be like this too. All I can suggest is that when you read an article or anything, read it with an open heart and with an open-mind. The more that we force ourselves to understand, the more that we find it hard. Just take it easy.

I am definitely the kind of person who reads things more than once. There are times I read a passage two or three times. There are times that I don't understand things on the first time reading. You need to read it twice to get the full meaning.

Hello there! I guess we are. :) I also experience that, and it's normal. I usually re-read my law books and notes over and over again just to understand what it says. There are articles or provisions that are really hard to understand, that you can't get them by reading it once or twice. So, I suggest you must first read the whole article on the first reading, and if you cannot understand by just reading it once, try to read it for the second time, but this time, try to read and analyze every sentence and paragraph, then after reading try to connect them, then have your third reading of the article, polish your thoughts, read the whole article and connect each paragraph. And if your brain still refuses to understand, hehe! have some patience, read it all over again.

Hello too Shimi18! Thank you for your suggestions. I also studied law when I took my Public International Law subject. I have to analyze well in order to understand the contexts but it is not that easy especially when the teacher is quite strict and always giving oral exams. Nonetheless, I really take time reading it again and again. I have to.
Take care.
