I watch the match between Liverpool and Manchester United, usually it is a good match to watch between two teams, However I witness one of the most shameful display of racism, the fan at the kop is the worst I have seen in recent year. I think they should be punished. Suggestion for punishment points deduction - I feel that the fans would not feel the pitch it was just a simple fine, but the team if they have points deduced like 10 points, I think the fans would think twice before they act this again. Play in empty stadium for the rest of the season. I think the kop should be empty every time liverpool play at home. Shame on you liverpool.

Yeah, to think that liverpool fans are doing the same thing as Suarez and that's why he deserved to be banned for 8 games.. lol I don't think Fifa is doing enough to stamp out racism in football and there should be more serious consequences and punishments. Punishments like fine doesn't help things since those big clubs are filthy rich, maybe what fifa or FA can do is, deny them the chance of winning any titles, like playing mahjhong, "zha hu", can't win the game.. haha

Yes, racism is getting more and more serious now, especially when players insulted another player, and this has turn on the trend, making it spreading like wild fire. Points deduction do not help at all, instead the club should be relegated immediately. I'm sure EPL or any other leagues won't do that because of the tv revenue losses. At the end of the day, people are only concerned about profits and money, disregarding human rights.

Immediate relegation would be to harsh I think and it would kill the game totally if all the teams are just changed. no one would recognize any of the teams and the players would just leave. But playing on a empty stadium would teach the fans a thing or two and point deduction would prevent them for going to Euro championship.

I beg to differ on this point. I'm a fan of neither Liverpool nor Manchester United. The incidence you referred to is not an isolated case; it happens all the time. Supporters of a team may decide to boo the players of the opposing team to discomfit them. This is a mere psychological battle. I feel professional players should learn to focus on the game and not on the "boos". I feel the eight-match ban on Suarez was too harsh. He moved over from the Netherlands where there are many black players. He claimed that the name he called Evra wasn't an insult. I feel the FA should have looked for language experts to verify his claim.

According to the transcript these are the words he said read and tell me it is not an insult. "Mr Evra asked Mr Suarez why he had kicked him, referring to the foul five minutes previously. Mr Suarez replied "Porque tu eres negr0", meaning "Because you are black". Mr Evra then said to Mr Suarez “say it to me again, I’m going to punch you”. Mr Suarez replied "No hablo con los negr0s", meaning "I don't speak to blacks". Mr Evra continued by saying that he now thought he was going to punch Mr Suarez. Mr Suarez replied "Dale, negr0, negr0, negr0", which meant "okay, blackie, blackie, blackie."

I am not it is the results, I am taking about the shameful racism act, the way the treat Evra. I think the FA should look into this matter and punish liverpool as a club. It is the reputation of the whole BPL, They should show them who is the boss.

That disgraceful act to torment Evra everytime he touches the ball, I am not sure they learn their lesson. I think it is the fans and the club that should be punished. if something it is not done the riots that might follow is going to be unthinkable. y

This kind of thing happens at all grounds, not just at Liverpool AND there was only one guy involved, so hardly a hanging offence. Man U have the worst fans in the country for arrests so I don't think you should single out Liverpool fans like that.

Agreed you are entitled to your opinion too. But I do hope you look at the evidence too. I have posted the transcript of why Suarez is punished. Granted I am a Everton Fan, so people might not trust my judgement. While I might not like liverpool but I admire the rivalry between us, it is really fun. That is until now, it is really disgraceful. I do hope the fans can come to the senses and understand this is not soccer. This is about racism.

I hate racism. I am also a Manchester United supporter. Yes, the booing from Liverpool supporters for Evra every time he touched the ball was deafening. But I am not sure if that had to do with racism or just a way to show displeasure for Evra's dispute with a Liverpool player - whatever that dispute is. It happened that the dispute was about racism but I am sure the booing will be as loud if the quarrel was about a former player joining their arch rival like what Rooney got from Everton fans. No doubt some in the crowd might be racists but I think it was just a minority and people like that exist everywhere. These people don't represent Liverpool. If Liverpool were racists, they would not have signed colored players like Glen Johnson and the great John Barnes. As there will always be people who will abuse racially, it is unfair to ban the club for something nobody can do anything about.

I am not a Manchester united support but what I saw and heard, I think it is a disgrace. I think it is a the basis that Suarez was not punish by the club and the fans are still act the way they are. I hope fans all around the world would boo at suarez when he returns.

jtct02, booing is part of the game, however it is the reason behind it that I am talking about. When a player leaves the team to join another team. It is understandable that the fans gets upset. But this is a racist case and they should have some level of knowledge, and not support such idiocy.

Booing is a disgraceful act regardless of the reasons behind. If we want to make football a clean sport, we have to make sure the crowd/fans do not shout when the game is in progress. Because if one spectator boos, others may follow even though everyone of them boos for different reasons. I have never watched a no-boo football match in my life. So I have accepted it as part of the game. Suarez has been banned 8 matches. Liverpool has said that they don't condone racism. Evra was just an easy and obvious Manchester United target to be booed for Liverpool fans. If Rooney or Nani were playing, they would have taken some of the boos away from Evra. I can say that even if Evra didn't play in that match, another Manu player would be singled out and ridiculed. It was just football and the stupid, senseless rivalry.

Which incident are your referring to? Of course, I watched the match on TV and as the focus is on the game and there was no coverage of the stands. So I do not really understand which incident you are referring to. Racism needs to be stamped out of the game. There is no doubt about it. But banning fans from the stadium might not be the great way to go about it. Cheers! Ram

But I think it was actually not racism, more the anger that even though Evra also agreed to have abused and incited Suarez, he got away completely scot-free while Suarez got 8 match ban. Don't get me wrong, I am also completely against racism, but if both parties have baited each other into the action, the law should hold both equally liable. Cheers! Ram

Lets face it, it the modern game, there are mind games. Look at how Ronaldo got Roodney sent off during the world cup. Still the reaction is that much. Not matter what is the action, this racist remarks is not warrant. I hope liverpool fans can wake up to their senses.

If you have not hear the abuse the shower on Erva every time he touches the ball, for those who support racism or acts of it, suarez was punished but it seem the club does not think so even as the evidence does. They continue to abuse, the player. I think we should all stand together to ask all these to be banned.

Well, I know that there are a lot of times with sports that there are acts of racism that occur. However, I don't think that when things like this happen that the athletes should be punished because they really don't have any control over what happens that their spectators do. With that said, the only rightful punishment that can happen is that those that do it should be ejected, but realize that no system is perfect.

If that is bad, imagine what Chelsea fans did. There were reports that a bullet was sent to Anton Ferdinand. Chants thou bad, it is nothing compare to such threats. I agree that FA should hit those cowards hard. But instead of deducting points, they should force the club to play behind close door. The length increase everytime. This will serve a warning to the fans and also hit the club where it hurts most, the pocket.

I think that football is a rough sport, because it is played mainly by "hooligans" and you cannot expect better from the fans neither. And let me tell you something: I think that racism exists since there is humanity on the world and it will exist till humanity will die out. So I think that too much sensitivity in the the football is not good, because that is how things are. I don't agree with the team to be punished for something that exists on football stadium all around the world. A fan of Man United who hates Liverpool and the fans of the team is racist too, but not based on skin color but on affinity reasons. I am sure that the hardcore fans of every team on the world are chanting racist things, so we just have to accept that football is like this. We should watch the game and shut our ears when we hear things we don't like.

I think soccer is a man's game, it is not a boy's and if that boy cannot understand it is wrong to be racist, he should not be in the game. There are some rough moments but it is part of the game.

Racism will never disappear, neither from the football fields nor from the head of the people. The majority of the people are racist, but some of them say this things and some of them don't, but the majority feel the same. So I don't know what the solution would be. Personally, I think that considering how well the players are paid, they should concentrate on what is happening on the field and not what the spectators scream.

I didn't watch the match. But yes, I've read the news. And even it has a photograph of a Liverpool fans mimicking (i'm sorry) one of the primates. Whether it's true or not, i don't really know. But if it's true, hope Liverpool will get a deserve punishment. If not, well someone got to make a clearance about this.
