Names have become very fashionable.Parents take a lot of time and effort to choose the best possible name for their child. Is it necessary? After whats in a name.....Infact most of the modern names are just fashionable in sound but have no meaning unlike old names. My name is prakash anand and it means prakash= light and anand= happiness. whats yours?

My name is Richard because my father is Ricardo ^^. It's just a variation. The important thing is that we have a name :), it does not need to be flashy. Of course, parents should be responsible in naming their children because it is something that their kids will carry for a lifetime.

As you might have guessed from the name I use here in Mylot, my name is Sylvia. The name comes from the Latin Silva, which means a forest and I do like that name! It makes me think of the environment, greenery and renewal! Yes, I am happy with my name and would not like to change it!

I was named after a friend of my mother's and my first name means, "Makes Him(them) glad". My middle name is the same as my mother's and means "elfin"...and yes, I love my name. It is very unique and I have not met another person with my name other than the one I was named for. I like being unique.

I should also say that I didn't always like my name. It was hard growing up with it and people often mispronounced it. It was not until I was an adult that I came to appreciate my unique first name and when my daughter was born I changed the spelling of it so that people would stop mispronouncing it but I do truly love my name.
I tried going by a different name once and it just did not work. I'm a "Ray**" not a "Crystal".

My parents didnt name me, My dad was working abroad when i was born and my mom got unconscious from giving birth to me. My Uncle who is my dad's brother, talk with the doctors and gave me my name. I wont give you my real name but my name means an Eagle. I hate my name though. I am the only sibling in my family who is not named by my parents, My parents are suckers for German names so all of my siblings have German names. My name have no meaning, my uncle just mixed my dad and mom's name.
years later, I sued my uncle for trying to steal my inheritance my grandma gave me. I wish I can sue him to for giving me an awful name.

My name, Carl, is a Danish one, my paternal grandfather, or step-grandfather (not sure) having been Danish; and I think it's quite common in Scandinavia, and has been common in Germany, although obviously not as much as Karl; and is quite common also in English speaking countries such as the UK and the US; it originally meant: Man I believe. It's related to Charles; as well as Karl; Karol; Carol; and other similar names. My second name Halling is also of Danish origin, although it may well be rather...Norwegian, as there is a Halling Valley, and a Halling Valley River...
