After the 6.9 Earthquake in my hometown, I am being so paranoid that it will happen again and die unprepared and alone. I know that my negativity does not bring any good for I cannot concentrate working and I worry most of the time. This isn't right. I have to keep in mind that everything is okay and I should live back to normal. To fight this fear and anxiety, I dropped by to the national bookstore and read some books. I usually go home right away but this time I decided to step on the mall and read books. I spent hours there and it changed my feelings til I get home. Books are important for me since it gives me lots of information and knowledge. It even lift me up and inspired. From now on, I should have time to go to the bookstore and read some books in there. I am planning to buy some books as well this weekend. Happy mylotting!

I have been afraid without much reason (bad events happenings, reaction to medicine, or just illness). Books have helped me during those periods, too. Sometimes taking an imagination break will help you heal physiologically, which you seem to need. I've also found audiobooks to be very soothing. I listen to them almost every night when I go to sleep. It's really helpful. GOOD LUCK!

That's great to hear. I love reading, too. It's a huge passion of mine! I can't imagine living without it... I generally read fiction, although I dabble in some non-fiction, and even the non-fiction books are a nice escape from day-to-day life that can seem mundane/boring. Happy MyLotting & Happy Reading to you!

Hi tess! In the given scenario reading books and distracting your mind by any means will surely help. Books do give us lots of knowledge and information and this information helps us enlighten ourselves and widen our horizon. Be positive, you will come out of the nightmare sooner than later.

It is just natural that you would have feelings of fear etc after such a harrowing experience. You know, many people who survive natural disasters etc experience PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) for a period of time afterwards. It goes away on its own...and quicker when you deal with the emotions sooner. The fact that it brought you closer to books is amazing to me. This may have been the function of the earthquake in your life - different so for others. It is a very mature response and the fact that you feel 'lifted up', hints that you responded in the way that the universe wanted you to. Some of my best memories are in the old and rich bookstores of London. No words can describe the feeling...and how those books and the information I got from them helped me through difficult times. I love just walking into a bookstore and intuitively walking to an area that seems to be 'calling' me. I always find what I need to read there. Strange but true. Happy reading and happy mylotting...

I am an avid reader myself and tend to read a lot during my free time. I can understand that it was very scary for you to be there during the earthquake and you have fear of it but hopefully it will never happen again anywhere. I'm glad to know that you feel better after reading. You should continue with it if it is helping you cope with the fear of the earthquake...
