I remember the time when mothers dictated the time and place everyone in the family must be during a major holiday? So when you got married you had to hit both homes, eat a lot and leave. I love the buffet style for my family. Eat when and if you want. Pictures are the primary focal point around our get together! Happy people, getting along. An Easter egg hunt was requested for next year. Oh boy? I don't dictate anything. Come if you want. Eat if you want. Enjoy! Do you celebrate your holidays with specific expectations?

I know what you mean, 2004cqui. I remember that New Year, when I was just married was a nightmare. I would have wanted to spend the time with my husband, but My mother in law had to have us at her home. It was boring as my in laws liked to wait for New Year watching TV. Then my husband would open a champagne bottle (I don´t like champagne because it makes my head ache). Then it would be a hug, a toast and a dinner I could have made better at my home. Now I don´t expect my children to be with me at any holiday. I usually go to one of their hoses for Christmas, but New Year is with friends.

I remember when my husband told me his mom expected us to be at her home for every Christmas! I put my foot down.

No...I went to my son's but most of the activities were already over with the exception of what I brought for them....which was an easter basket...and a napkin holder with easter napkins in it. I have a mexican friend who send mexican easter eggs for my granddaughter and that was a total hoot! they are just the blown out shells with confetti inside....she had a blast breaking them over peoples heads...with their permission I might add and outside so you wouldn't have to vacumm!
