Last Sunday I found some old jeans that I don't used that much cause it is quite old now to wear at work. Well I asked my mom if she know someone who could cut, repair and turn it into shorts. She said that she will try and will see if the tailor within the streets is still there and accepting repairs. As I came home tonight from work, my mom told me that the tailor is still available. So I do wear some old jeans that I have and choose which of those jeans will I could turn into shorts. I wear some around three pieces, put some marks on the lenght that I desire. My mom will bring ut to the tailor tomorrow and hope that it will just not cost that much. Instead of just keeping it the cabinet, I would definitely use some of it now. I could also bring it in our upcoming company outing instead of buying a new one. Have you turn some old stuffs into something useful? Good eve everyone.

You need a tailor to make shorts out of old jeans? You just need a pair of scissors to cut of the legs! We already do that since 40 years. What a waste of money.

I totally gree with you, Kitty. I would only need a pair of scissors. I have made several pairs of jeans into shorts in my life and I don´t even sew the border but take away some of the threads. I´ve done it since the 60s until now. The only difference is the size of the jeans and the age of the owner

That's a great idea- instead of leaving it lying inside your cabinet. I also do the same with other clothes. Some old shirts- I cut the sleeves and use as night dress.

Good! it would either be short pants or three fourths in current fashion scenario. The fading Denim concept gets full import in modern jean fads turning to cutting down their pant lengths to shorter limits. Fashions always have something to probe...let the new concept of cutting down full length jeans to medium or short length pants enter the current fray and and let it stay for long.

I also do that with my old jeans. And, I use them as house clothes. For shirts, I also cut the sleeves, so it'd be more comfortable and use them when I sleep. For the rest of the clothes that I can no longer make any use of, I just pack them up and donate or give them to the less fortunate.

Hello ardoy0731, I also love re-creating old stuff into something useful. I have some old jeans which I have cut so that I can use it as shorts. Especially during summer months when wearing jeans isn't really as enticing during rainy days. Most of my old pants are now shorts and I have took the extra mile of designing it for a more personal touch. Aside from jeans, I also cut old shirts and have it as sleeveless tops. I find it wasteful disposing old clothes when you could create something new from it. I love that it helps me save money so that I could have it reserved for other things I can buy aside from clothes.

I have done this with a lot of my jeans! I like doing this. Especially if the ends are really frayed out. I usually will just sew them as "cuffed" bermuda shorts or regular jean shorts. I just don't do it if I REALLY like the pair of jeans, just in case I screw something up. But if you are planning on getting rid of them anyway, you might as well try to make use out of them. That is the *green* and *economical* thing to do!

I do also converted some of my old pants into shorts. I just did it by myself and sew it manually so I can have another pair of shorts to be wear at home. During my college days, I also asked my mom to bring some of my old pants to tailoring shops to make shorts. This adds my shorts that can be wear not only at home but outdoors too. Another old stuffs that I made into useful one were my old round neck shirts. The fabric is already thin and some of the prints were already faded. Also, these were my old uniforms in college and highschool. I removed the sleeves and turn it into sando.

Yeah. It's nice to convert old stuff into new ones that can be used worthwhile. When I have t-shirts that are old, I cut their sleeves to make sleeveless shirts. If I have t-shirts that I don't wear anymore, I just make them home clothes and wear during sleeping and at home.

I plan to do that on some of my Levi denims that are already old and are too big for me because before I was fat and now they look so silly if I wear them so maybe I'll just turn them into something new like shorts that I can wear at home.
