So i answered the phone at work and got a job that needs to be done on Friday. No big deal we will get it done for you i say, then they asked me for my name and i tell them Holly and he saidok Polly i say no its Holly so he says ok Polly have a nice day. Im like serious, did you not understand me or something. I dont think its that hard but i know there are alot of other names that rhyme with Holly but i dont know i guess i get annoyed when people do that.

Some people just don't listen they are too wrapped up in themselves to stop and think or consider the other person's feelings. It's rudeness, there is no excuse and some people think they can get away with it. I have the problem not with calling me the wrong way it's how people spell my name, I am Brian but the amount of times people spell it Brain, I know the spellchecker won't pick it up, but if they bothered to read it they'd know it was incorrect. It's not just children who did it when I was at school it's work colleagues, adults who should know better. So yes you have every right be be annoyed. How would they like it if you called them a wrong name? Different when the shoe is on the other foot hey!

It is annoying if I said it twice or trice. And if you don’t want that he/she will call you again by the wrong name. Try to approach him/her in a nice way. And tell him/her that your name is Holly not Polly. To make things right and clear write it in the piece of paper so that he/she can see it.

I get called by different names too!
But it is mostly my fault. I give different circles of people different variations of my real name. That's how I know how close some people are when they refer to me by my favorite name.
I know it's a little bit schizo, but I like that some people that don't know me well, don't know my real name, and the real me.

It is annoying, but take into account that the guy might have hearing problems. So many people are going deaf from wearing their earphones and earplugs and playing music at deafening levels that within thirty years most everyone under the age of fifty will have serious hearing problems.
They might not care now, but when they can't hear the doorbell and they all have tinnitus, then they'll take notice.
As for getting your name wrong, get over it. You just have to remember that what goes around comes around, and eventually it will come back around to the guy on the phone.

I used to, but I don't think the person means any harm by it. They might have a hearing problem! Just when you finish the job for Friday, introduce yourself one more time as Holly, not Polly :)
