"Who are you again?"

I'm working away today and my phone rings.
I pick it up and I hear "something something, doctor's appointment at 8:15 on May 2nd."
"Huh?" I asked.
"I'm calling to remind you of your doctor's appointment on May 2nd, at 8:15."
????
Now, I know that the roommate "D" had an appointment today at 4. And another one next week, I think... And the roomie has a follow up with the orthopedic doc on May 7th... but May 2nd? At 8:15?
"Excuse me... which doctor is this again?"
and she tells me...
OOOOOOOooooooooooo.....
Some time ago, like another lifetime ago, like November, I had a problem... so I went to this doctor, and then...
Well... the world fell on my head - I think - and I'd been thinking about this doc lately, but remembering... I had an appointment... noooooo....
I checked my phone - why YES, there it is! May 2nd! 8:15! OMG!
I've just been to so many doctors lately and appointments that aren't my own, I am beginning to forget me!
I think....
What do you think?

Oh it definately happens to more people than you think. That is why pretty much all dr. appointments have a friendly 'reminder' call so you don't miss your appointment. I have so many with different specialists and dr's it is also hard to keep track. My calendar phone helps, but the call is the best thing to remind me. Hopefully you can still do your appointment!

Oh my, you're great :)
You can remember your roomie's appointment and forget yours
At least your roommate can ask you about her appointment once she forgot her schedules

Thank God for those wonderful reminder calls, eh? Calendars only work if you actually remember to look at them. When I get an appointment I put it in my phone right away, but I am still happy that they call me to remind me incase I forget to look at the calendar.
Atleast it wasn't a wrong number. I had a school call me, and tell me all kinds of confidential information about a child, thinking this was his phone number. I told them it was not his number, and they don't know me. They should have checked to see if I was "Mrs. Wheeler" before telling me all the stuff they called me.
Again, glad the doc had the right number. LOL

Well, you HAVE stretched yourself a bit thin over the past year. It wouldn't be at all surprising that you forgot something for yourself when you've been doing so much focusing on others as well as your shed and your critters. Just be glad they called and that you hadn't scheduled a roommate for an appointment at the same time!! LOL

hi ElicBxn I know the feeling back in January I was sick as sick could be and had seen one of my doctor's colleagues as he was obn vacation. so the call that I was to get my physical exam for the year did not please as I had bronchial pneumonia and by promising to spent the mornings in bed evaded being hospitalized. so I was not up to have a physical exam. so just the other day our activities director told me "Patsie you will be getting a call from your doctor." Well I had no idea what on earth he wanted to see me as I had just seen him in March.soI go along thinking she had something wrong. Then I get this call from my doctor's medical group saying "we have the approved paper work for your yearly
physical. Would you like me to connect you with your doctors appt lady or do you wish to wait? I told her connect me and I made
an appt for 11 am on May 14th as I needed to wait till my
social security and ssi checks were in. at least now I am not getting
a yearly physical when I am totally ill.

I have forgotten too. Especially when the children were little. We always had dentists and checkups...illnesses or something. I used to have a huge calender hanging in the kitchen that I wrote everything on and checked/added to everyday to help me keep up with them. I still have the calender but it is not near as full. At least not with doctors appointments.

We give a "mom's calendar" to a friend every Christmas because she has a family of 6 to keep up with and sits with a couple of small children during the week.
So, even tho 2 of her boys are grown, they aren't out of the house yet, one is in college and the other is looking for a job, so she's still keeping track of the 2 in high school and what is needed for the one in college and herself and her husband.

I have forgotten about appointments until I get the reminder call. I always write them on my calendar, but I forget to look at it, or forget what week it is. I like getting the calls also because a lot of the time I will remember the appointment date but not the time and that saves me from looking at the calendar. I have a small calendar in a pouch on my walker, but it can be a pain to get it out of the pouch.

Been there, done that. Several times! The older I get, the more it happens. Not to worry - it happens!

I think doctor's offices recognize this and that is why they do reminder calls. I would not be so bright as to put it into my phone, but when working, and doing other people's appointments I carried a big planner calendar all of the time. It helped immensely. I hope your problem has resolved itself.

It's so easy to forget ourselves when our lives are super-busy. At least, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
I have to rely on those phone reminders or I'd miss almost all of my appointments and I don't have to worry about those that aren't my own. But, I have other issues that tend to occupy my poor overworked noggin so it's very easy to forget doctor's appointments.
I'm now seeing TWO orthopedic surgeons and I'm worrying that I'll get them mixed up one of these days so I might have to fire one and just work with the other. One is a general orthopedic surgeon and the other is the spine specialist who operated on my neck back in 2010. I'm seeing him... AGAIN... because I've been having issues since my SUV's hatchback came down on my shoulder. The other surgeon I've been seeing for my shoulder because I now have a frozen scapula (frozen shoulder) and am starting physical therapy tomorrow. That is, unless the MRI I'm going to have on my neck shows that the problem is almost all in my neck. I just don't know what is causing what at this point but the spine surgeon told me yesterday that the vertebra directly above the one he operated on is now impinging the nerves so I have to have the MRI to see if surgery is needed right away. If it is and he operates, it may get rid of my shoulder issues or at least most of them. Funny, at this point, I'd much rather have surgery on my neck (spine) again than go through 6 weeks of physical therapy 2 to 3 times a week.
Sorry, didn't mean to get off track. Uhh, I think you need a big calendar like I used to have on my fridge where I'd write down each appointment I had (or anyone else in my family that I was responsible for) so I'd see it every time I went to or near the fridge. It really helped! I just kinda forgot to get a calendar for this year so I don't have one up at the moment. Guess I'll just have to print out each month for the rest of this year and make sure I write down these appointments!
This discussion has me trying to remember just how many doctors I now have. General Practitioner, Rheumatologist, Cardiologist, General Orthopedic Surgeon, Spine Specialist, Gynecologist, Ophthalmologist, ENT, uhh... Oh, then there are those pesky tests they always send us to get, blood tests, X-rays, MRI's, sonograms and now, physical therapy, even more things to have to remember.

Putting your appointments on your calendar is very clever. It is understandable to be caught up with our daily activities and forget other details along the way. I, myself, keep a checklist of my errands as I get preoccupied with my work at times. I also keep a schedule of my bills and even set an alarm on my phone for it.

But good point!
