To a decent home, that is. As my friends all know, when I bought this trailer, it was in dire need of some repairs. The main problem was the bathroom. It had an unusable tub and a soft spot in the floor so bad that the toilet tilted. My handyman quoted me $600 to fix the floor...a bill the ballooned into well over $1200 by the time they were done with the bathroom. They had to move the walls so that my new tub would fit. Well, then the plumber installed the new tub...er, new to ME, that is. It was an older tub that had been used as a trough in the field for livestock and it still needs refinishing but it is a steel tub and big enough for me to fit into...plus it has no leaks! Final bill on the plumber, $700. Since then I sold my trailer in John Day and allocated a portion of the money to finishing the repairs here on my trailer. I have finally got the hole in the hallway floor fixed, a leak in the roof patched and my pantry (which had collapsed under the weight of a bunch of food) fixed. Again, the quote on the floor was around $650. The final bill was barely forty dollars over the bid so I'm happy with it. Mind you, I still need to replace all the windows on this baby and get the access panel on the skirting replaced before I can truly relax. Nice thing about the windows, though, is that there is a community resource for low income folks like me that will help me with the weatherization of my place. The down side of that is that the wait list has a 2 to 5 year waiting period so that means I have two to five more winters like last one. YUCK! But I must admit that I am loving my little trailer. It is 200 square feet smaller than the one in John Day and has one less bedroom but it's cozy. And since it's just me, my daughter and the two cats, we really don't need that much more space. I put in my kitty door in one of the windows but had to duct tape it in because the window didn't quite fit snugly. When my handyman measured it for replacement, he discovered that it wasn't quite square, which explains why I had so much trouble putting the kitty door in. I may not wait for the community resource to replace that window but for now I'll just have to make do. The other window that I may not wait the 2 to 5 years to replace is in my daughter's room...it has a crack in it. I know what you're probably thinking, "What a money pit!" But hey! I only paid $3000 for the thing and it has a carport, a fully fenced yard and a ramp. It has potential and I'm happy with it...for now.

Yeah, tile floors are nice in the bathroom but I don't think I'd want to install it. My daughter wants tile floors in kitchens cuz she melted our linoleum once by putting a hot frying pan on it!

I have the coolest little apartment all furnished with very old very junk second hand stuff that I've re-done and made unique and very cool. I love it and so does my little 18 yr old that lives with me. And I've done it all with a lot of creativity and under 500.00. I want to say well under 500.00. I'm pretty poor so it sure didn't cost me much..

Well, any trailer sold for under $20k is going to need fixing up so nothing I can afford is going to come without repairs needed. I don't mind fixing things up. It gives me a goal to look forward to. I'll be able to get the weatherization done in a few years but until then we're good enough to hold out. I'm happy with my place.
