MyLot thinks I may be a scammer...

Ok, So, I have been with myLot since December of last year, and have been slow with posting discussions, and the like. I only have three hundred something posts so far, and I thought by now they would have known that I am a regular guy. But, I thought wrong. Yesterday, I tried to copy/paste something I typed into my own comment, so I would not have to erase everything I typed and place what I wanted to type before something else...you still with me? So, I go and try to copy a sentence to place before something else I typed, and this little box came popping up "shouting" at me... It went something like this...You are not allowed to copy and paste until you have at least 500 posts, so that way we can be sure that you are not a scammer... I thought, well Ill be!!! How is it that I have been with them so long and they do not know me??? I felt like Jesus, when he was talking to Philip about wanting to see the "proof" of the father. (Dont take what I just stated out of context, I NEVER said I was Jesus!!!) Is this some magic number they know is the "proof" someone is not a scammer, or spammer? I would like to have a little talk with our myLot tech, and see where he/she/they come up with these numbers... I just have one thing to say... Its okay though, I know you still love me myLot... LOL So my question is, do you all think it should be that high a number? I mean I understand their side, where they are coming from, to keep it a spam/scam free site, but 500?

It's time you read the FAQ's and Guidelines! 300 plus is much too high to be posting this type of topic!

Hello, petersum. I've read them. I do not see how this is an attack against myLot... Posting this type of topic is within the guidelines.

I read the FAQ's, I guess they have their reasons. Maybe they had a big meeting with coffee and doughnuts and decided that 500 was the magic number. As for knowing that you did it, no do not take it personally as it's an automated message, computer generated program. The people who run this have absolutely no idea that you even tried it. Maybe they should worry more about all those interests that are misspelled. I saw a lot of except and accept getting swapped and used incorrectly on those interests and other mistakes like Lego's with two g's. They even spelled vegetarian wrong on my one interest. Those slipped by someone but not that 500 mark, ha ha.

As far as I know, as long as you are not trying to post affiliate website links or anything you're ok and not spamming. Like me I am here to promote as well as make friends.. but I don't post my link.. only on my profile.

Hello, musicscout. I have never done anything here to get in trouble. I had one comment deleted because I was upset and found it easier to be rude, than just be cool about what I felt. But I didnt know about this 500 thing until the other day.

Yeah I would just say try to enjoy the site my friend. Remember everyone is here for the same reasons.. make friends have fun and make a bit of moola! I would just keep posting the way you are and follow al the rules and you will be ok. It seems like a community of people so far.

I agree with the others... 500 is easy to get on this site. It is just some random number they threw out there. But if a spammer makes it too 500 posts on their own then decides to copy and paste from there they are probably thinking more power to them and let them waste the time and effort. It will catch up to them sooner or later!!

Yes, they are. I agree now. I am happy to get to 500 because I just love it here so much. I would if I could just sit here all day and night posting. It makes me feel like now I have a goal to reach!!! I will hit the 500 mark by the 10th the latest.

No, we don't think you're a spammer. But, if someone sticks around long enough to reach that 500 mark, then we can be sure you're not one.

Yeah, i experienced that before.. That is just their rule.. So i tried my best to reach 00 in a few weeks.. and i was so glad when i got to 500.. It just mean 500, the number beside your name, not really the number of discussions you make. Now i can easily copy and paste.

I know. Rules, rules, rules. But I guess they are for a good reason, and GoAskAlice from ADMIN convinced me of that fact. Ill get to 500 in no time now that I have a lot of down time...

Maybe they first decided on 1000, then 800... maybe after you did your round, it will be 300 ...

Yeah, just when I reach 500 they will pull the rule. No, but I think now it is reasonable. It makes sense and I just have to live with it like Lamb said.

Unfortunately, yes, I think it should stay at 500 because some people are just getting comfortable enough at that point and will begin to post referrals and so on that myLot is trying to avoid having to deal with. WE know you wouldn't and YOU know you wouldn't, but the rules is the rules. Now, get busy and post away...

Well, some can post 500 in just a week and they are not certified spammers Anyway, why not try to be more active to reach 500 and you will be able to use the feature of "copy paste"

Hello, jaiho2009. I have been working hard at getting to more than 500. I know I will get there in the next week or so. I am online so much now, that it is easier. I just keep responding to discussions, and starting some.

Hello, earningmember. No, that is something else I didnt know. Thank you for that. Yet, I am not really worried about reaching 500, because I am close, but more worried about staying within the guidelines. I am one of those guys who likes to play by the rules. It is safer that way. I have more to learn, and I thought I already knew so much about myLot. Heck, I have been here for almost 7 months, and have read the FAQ's, and guidelines at least 3 times. But, sometimes it does not hurt to read over them again. Yet, this particular thing that happened to me, which isnt really anything UBER important, just made me see it really is a well thought out site. I am having more and more respect for myLot, because they really do want the people here to have a good time without worrying about who is going to spam/scam them. That is wonderful in my book...

Personally, I think 100 or 200 would be just fine. I think a spammer wouldn't bother to post that much before he/she actually spams.. But they said 500, then 500 it is.. It doesn't really bother me though. Within my very first participation on myLot, I rarely need the copy-paste stuff, unless for copy pasting links..

I know, right.... You would think they would catch on to these guys long before then. This was my first time copy/pasting, too. But before yours, it is stated that sometimes people get into the site, and get to posting things they should not well after 500. So, you are right. 500 it is. They should have a pretty good idea who is legit and who is not. Thanks for the response.

Not to be a "Downer" but, everywhere you go...there are rules and regulations, we all knew this when we signed up. If you are not happy with the rules, then maybe the MYLOT thing is not for you. I think we are all suppose to have fun while Mylotting, not be aggrivated. Good luck:-)

Hello, renzonation. I have read them many times. It is just something I noticed when I tried to copy/paste in my own comment. But I was not trying to do so from another source. I just thought I would be able to do so within myLot but found out differently. thanks for the comment.
