How many of you celebrate St Patricks day?  

I don't really celebrate it.
On the news they always show pubs with people celebrating.
I wore green when I was in school.

I don't drink, but I'm part Irish so I always try to do something special for it. This year I'm making a St. Patrick's Day scarf. If I start now I should have it done by March 17, 2007.
I also love Celtic music and Highland Dancing. Once our whole family painted shamrocks on their faces and then we entered the limerick contest at a local restaurant. I wish there were more family oriented St. Patrick's Day events around. Then everyone can participate.
Fabric stores also carry themed fabric so it's fun to make a shamrock vest or handbag.

Being Irish/Italian I HAVE to celebrate! We always have reuben sandwiches from a local Irish Pub and I either pick up McDonald's green shamrock shakes or make our own version (which I prefer but isn't always time efficient! lol). We all try to wear at least SOME green and I used to go out for just ONE green beer or Irish beer (usually my choice because there is something icky about green beer). If I don't go out for it I will sometimes invite my dad over for a beer and reuben (my mom too but she hates beer lol) and just grab a 6 pack for that occasion as I'm not a huge drinker.


Locally they also have a St. Patty's Day parade. Nothing huge, but it's always fun and of course being in the snow belt always cold and snowy! And there's always the local Shriners that play the bagpipes!

Yes I celebrate St. Patrick's Day.. My family is Irish- My mom almost 100%.. Every year my whole family (aunts/uncles/cousins, grandparents) would get together on St. Patrick's night to have dinner and drinks. Green beer- YUK.. Always wear a Kiss me I'm Irish pin-- Imagine that- I'm an accountant all decked out in a suit and a kiss me I'm irish pin.. LOL
My grandma passed away 8 years ago on St. Patrick's day.. It was quite odd.. We were all planning on meeting that night for our annual celebration.. Turned out to be our last big family celebration. Now I celebrate with my folks and my family. Minus the green beer--- : )

I never was one to wear the green. Up until last year, I had few articles of clothing that were green. Now I have a few things, mainly sage green, but will wear it. Last year was the first year that I was decked out in green. I have a spot of Irish in me...thought it would be a good idea to let the world know it.

I always celebrate St. Patricks day and always wear green. I have Irish ancestors. While I was brought up Baptist I converted to catholocism in my early 20's which was when I took more interest in him. I read somewhere that one of the reasons he was made a Saint was that he rid Ireland of snakes. And if I am not mistaken there still aren't any snakes in Ireland. I'm sure if I am mistaken there will be someone from Ireland to correct that last statement.

I end up celebrating it with a crowd of cops. For some reason for the past for years I have been on my way to my sisters house in New Jersey and since I do not drive I have to take a train from Long Island into New York City and then get on another train to New Jersey. The trains into the city are always full to the brim and I am usually squished between a load of cops that are very excited to be going into the city and be helping out in the parade. So what I described is not actually me celebrating the holiday but it is a sort of tradition now.

I observe it in a fashion.. in that I observe that it's St. Patty's.. I like the idea of it, but never really do much about it. Maybe corned beef and cabbage is in order this year!! With Reubens as leftovers.. I'm eager for spring.. so maybe some new greenery would be in order..

I'm half Irish and wear something green almost every day. On St. Patrick's Day, I listen to Irish Music and try to attend the parade. No beer for me, but everyone else that enjoys beer have a toast for good health, fine food and great times ahead.
