I really like this poem that was given to me by one of my students. It makes a lot of sense and is good for people that are feeling down and think about quitting. What do you think about this poem? Do you agree with it?
You Must Not Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all-uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care, is pressing, you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't quit.
Life is strange with its twist and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns;
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow;
You may succeed with another blow!
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
When things seem worst, you must not quit.

Nice! I especially like how it begins. It definetly catches my attention. I'm sure so many people can relate to just the first few lines. Thanks for sharing.

This is the first time that I have read this poem, and I must admit that I am quite impressed by it.
Poetry is not normally a sector of the arts that appeals to me, but there is something very inspiring in the essence of this one. It makes me wonder if I have missed more by not being a poetry lover over the years.

Very nice inspirational & motivational poem. I printed it out to give to my daughter who is struggling with middle school. Hopefully she will find the strength within its meaning to push on harder!
Thank you for sharing and I hope others find it as inspirational as I have.

I have memorized this poem when i was still in high school. it like sort of a mantra for our cadet officer candidate course for CAT. Until now, i still know that poem by heart and its become my own personal motto. Whenever i have a hard time doing something and im at the lowest point of my life i find myself reciting this poem to my self and it gives me added strenght to face the difficulties i have to endure.

I liked your poem:)+ You just inspired me not to quit on my desire to make a website. It's hard because I have to really start from the basics as I don't know anything about html etc. Thank you for reminding me not to quit no matter how hard it may seem to me.

I am learning how to do the same thing. I am hoping to be able to make websites as well but have to put it on hold for a while due to other things happening. I am glad that I inspired you and that you are not going to give up. I am sure you will make a good website.

Oh its a very old poem given to me by my friend archie way back in 1989.I had lost that poem somewhere.I liked it then also.Thanks for telling me the writer's name as it was written anonymus on the poster I had.I often remember the line "when the road you are trudging seems all uphill do not quit" It always has given me to try a little bit more before quitting.and often I have succeeded with that last push.

It is nice to see that other people have read and seen this poem and enjoy it and brought back memories. I definitely plan on keeping this in case I start feeling down. Your welcome for the writers name as we should give credit to the writers who wrote these poems.

I have read that poem before and have always like it.
But now I am wondering who wrote it because your post says by Marie Gleiter and I have seen it written by Helen Stiener Rice.
Here is a website that even has her name.

I guess it doesn't matter to much to us who it was written by because we just like the poem. But I think it would probably matter to the true author.
Thanks for posting the poem. I have not thought about it in a long time.

I have this poem on a plaque on the wall. Its been through a lot. It is worn and a bit water damaged but I can still make out the words. It has a picture of a beautiful sunset. Although its in pretty rough shape, it still has its meaning. I have had to read this poem at many times in my life.
