When watching the Wizard of Oz  

I can definitely relate to this movie as it is one of my favorite movies and they still show it on tv pretty often here. Yes, I would want to travel a yellow brick road with a group of strangers as that is how you make new friends and get to know other people and what they go through. I have had to seek the help of a professional before to get advice and get me through some tough times. Sometimes I learn new things and sometimes I do get told things that I already knew. It was still helpful either way.

I feel the same way you do about "the wizard of Oz". It's been one of my favourite movies and I must have watched it a hundred times. My 6 year old son loves the movie too though he isn't old enough to understand the message it is trying to give. But he enjoys it for now and I'm sure he'll get a few lessons about friendship from it.

This movie is one my favorite "classics". I've watched it for over 40 years, and still love it. I dont think it will ever become old. I even started a small collection of Oz collectibles of my own. If you check my profile, I own an online gift store and just added Oz bean bag bears dressed as Oz characters. I just ordered a set for myself. Too cute. I'd have to say the Cowardly Lion is my favorite character.

You never have to look beyond your own backyard for whatever you seek to find.

If I could sing like Judy Garland, I might give that yellow brick road a try! :o) However, since I can't I'll say that I am very shy with strangers, and the thought of going into another strange place like I've done twice in the last 4 years doesn't appeal to me at all.

But, I love the movie and somehow get hooked into watching it every time it's on TV. It's timeless, so it will go on forever I think. I totally agree that "there's no place like home".

Why does this movie have to have a message...it was made soooo many years ago..couldn't it have been just someones imagination that made it to film. Like thinking Tele Tubbies had a hidden agenda...they were fabricated fictitional play characters for entertainment. Maybe some of us are overthinking things. Maybe! My movies are for entertainment..that is it. not looking for messages or hidden meanings. Thanks for starting this discussion..a window into others lives.

I do love this movie. I read a book called "The Zen of Oz" and it relates the movie to Zen concepts. It's pretty cool.

i watched this movie so many times as a child that we went through at least 5 VHS tapes, i now own the DVD and my son watches it all the time! It will always be a classic in my opinion

I LOOOOOOVED this story when I was little, I used to watch over and over and over. It's kind of charming, and sweet. But I like the cartoon version more than the one with real people.

I don't really watch this movie. I've seen it but it's not one of my favourite's so I don't make a habit of watching it again and again. I probably could relate to it in someway if I thought about it... but I don't like it enough to think about if I can relate to it or not :P
