I am always quite intrigued with tats and what they mean, etc. Do you have any? What are they and what do they stand for?
By the way... I don't have any. Oddly enough, as intrigued with them as I am and as much as I think they are beautiful it's just not my style. lol

True, if you're not "hard and worn" I guess it wouldn't be a huge issue. Although eventually I think even the best of us will wrinkle and sag! LOL

that's always been an issue with me.. i've seen those older, hard looking, well worn out women who sport tats and they're all wrinkled, faded and such and it's just soooooo ugly! lol

Well, lots of people don't really like them, but I do. I have a small tribal design on my stomach under my belly button. It doesn't really mean anything, I just got it when I turned 18 and it is cute. Then I also have a flower with designs around it on my back. Me and my best friend both got the same flower (different spots, colors, and design going around), and she drew it up herself. She lives pretty far away and we only get to see each other every couple years, so we just did it cuz we both love tats and we wanted kinda matching ones. We don't care if others don't like them, they are special to us.

I agree. It's your body and tuff what others think. I think it's wrong to judge a person by what they look like anyways, so just because someone looks punk and "weird" by normal standards doesn't mean they're not the nicest person in the world. Tats don't make a person, and most times I've found that the people that have them are so sincere and real it's wonderful!

Yes, I agree. Once I met a guy who had lots and lots of tattoos. He even had them on his head! By the looks, you would think he was a mean, crazy guy, but actually he was one of the nices people I ever met in my life. It was really strange. If people don't like tattoos, then they obviously shouldn't get them, but some people see it as a form of art and expression.

Yes I have 3 tats. One is the Chinese symbol for "Chi", another is my Chinese birth symbol (Ox!), and the last one is "Accomplish everything without fear" in Mandarin. I seem to be obsessed with having Chinese tattoos! I think the writing is so cool! lol

Chinese writing is truly an artwork in itself. I agree.

I never would have thought that I would get one, either, but a few years ago I was visiting my brother and sister-in-law out of state and I went with my brother to have one of his tatoos touched up. I ended up getting one of my own, and have never regretted it for a single minute! It's very discreet, on my left shoulder; it only shows if I want it to, but never shows with work clothing. It's flowers with 2 butterflies. The colors are mostly purples, which is my favorite color. I don't know about getting another one, but I definitely won't rule it out!

I have a tattoo of a winged horse on my shoulder that I got shortly after breaking up with a guy who beat me. For some reason an image of a terrestrial animal taking flight meant something to me at that time.
I also have a piece on my calf that is a combination of traditional styles from Ireland and Borneo. Mostly I just like how it looks.
(Trying to figure how to upload a pic here. Let's see if it works.)

Yuck, no I detest tatoos. When I was very young, I once told my mum that I was going to have a tatoo and she nearly went berserk. My granddaughter recently told me that she would like to get a tatoo, so I told her if she went ahead and got one, I would say goodbye to her. Of course, I would never let a tatoo come between myself and my granddaughter, but I didn't want her to ruin her beautiful skin by having a tatoo on it. So far so good.

my kids have said they want them and when they're 18 they can get them.. until then no tats .. not because i dislike them or anything but because it is a huge decision to make and one that stays with you forever! it's not to be taken lightly for sure and it's not always for everyone
i do see them as a form of art though for sure!

Some people like them some people dont, i like them, i think they can look quite sexy on a guy although i dont like all the bold red and bright colours you see on some.
On women they can look quite classy...i like dainty..i have a dainty floral vine accross my lower back...

I think the "hard core" tattoo people tend to get more meaningful tats, either that represent something in their life or someone. The ones that just get 1 or 2 usually just get them because they like the design.
I personally think they can be very artistic!

I do not have any. It runs contrary to my principles. For me, it is my duty to keep my body safe from harm, and that includes keeping it safe from the entry of anything foreign into it. Tattooing is a painful process. Much piercing of the skin is being done, and ink is introduced into the pierced skin. The bad thing about tattooing is the fact that there is nothing at all that's good which it can do to one's body. There is really nothing logical at all about having one.

I am also intrigued with the artwork, the reason behind someone getting one and the placement...Some are absolutley awesome..and done so well...others are cheesy and bland..or homemade looking..but I always still wonder what made them decide to permanently affix something to their body...especially if it is in a place that is well viewed by the world and may not be so attractive at age 75!!!
I personally have no tattoos..but have family members that are heavily done and self designed...really beautiful..but they aren't that into it anymore and have huge work...I wonder how many people have theirs removed...or wish they could afford to ...Art is wonderful...

Tattoos are artistic markings in any part of one's body. Some consider it as an expression. Others have it for fun. Some considered it an application of arts in their life.
Some have it as a symbol of a certain organization or group. It is considered a determinant in the society where they belong. Before, during ancestral age, tattoos symbolizes power and authority specially in native tribes located on remote areas. The more tattoos you have, the more powerful you are. Even women on that time have their bodies filled with tattoos.
Personally, I don't have tattoos. It is not my interest. I believe that the skin should not be used as a paper, lol. If I want to write or draw something, I just let it land on papers or canvas, but not on my skin.
Cause here in our country, if you have tattoos, you are considered to be an ex-convict. It is like that because ex-convicts here in our country usually have their body tattooed by their inmates.

I thought about getting my tattoo for a full year before I actually got it... I wanted to do something that, in my mind, symbolized me moving on with my life, starting over and growing into someone new, after an 18 year relationship ended in a divorce. I ended up with a tribal rose (no color, just a black and grey design) near my left shoulder blade. I had my new husband's first initial, very tiny, integrated into the design. I love it :)
