Do you believe in Fairies? |
|
Last week I watched the movie 'Fairy Tale', which is a true story about two young girls who claimed to have taken photographs of fairies at the bottom of their garden. It was a wonderful movie in its own right, really worth seeing. At the end I was (and still am) totally undecided as to whether I believe those young girls that the photos were genuine. Of course when I was growing up I believed in fairies, however now as an adult I would more describe myself as 'wanting to believe', as Agent Mulder says! I have met a few people (adults) here in Ireland who seriously believe in fairies. What do you think? Any theories or experiences?

ajithlal (3251) | 3 years ago | Yes I do believe in faries. One of the main reason is that I read a lot of fairytales when I was young. I really love reading fairy tales and stories about guardian angels. The good thing is that this will always makes us to carry our life in positive way when we are down. Also, it gives a warmth feeling when you believe there are fairies, guardianangels, angels etc to take care of you. I also believe miracles do happen in our life. Hope and faith are two beautiful words to believe. This can always bring miracles in our life.

2. missytia (233) | 3 years ago | I guess I do to some extent. But as we grow up and become adults and live 'life', the ability to see them fades. Children are so innocent and their minds are so fresh and open to things and that's why I believe that children often see things that adults can't. One day, eventually, I will be making a fairy garden in my back yard for my daughter to attract them. Hey you might think I'm crazy, but if you don't believe, you are never going to see them.

fluffleshark (402) | 3 years ago | Oh thats lovely! lucky daughter! yes I think I may do the same with mine when she's older!:) But yes I agree with you - I believe that adults filter out a lot of what they perceive that they don't think should be there.
| |
|
|
missytia (233) | 3 years ago | i also believe that they aren't all good fairies. They trick us at times, they hide stuff. There are different types of fairies. Each have their own purpose, to guide or corrupt us. LOL
| |
|
|
fluffleshark (402) | 3 years ago | Yes I agree with you that they're not necessarily all good! But all interesting!! I tend to believe, like the next poster, in different 'species' like fairies, elves, gnomes, goblins, hobbits etc. And you?

3. Darkwing (7519) | 3 years ago | I have that film on video, and I love it. I keep watching and watching it.
It was discovered later, a lot later, when the two girls confessed, that their story was made up. It was a very clever ruse though, pulled off by two young girls in Yorkshire and I, for one, was disappointed when I heard that they had made it all up. The "fairies" were dragonflies, down by the stream, but on the film, they were cleverly depicted as cute little fairies.
I believe in fairies (faeries) and goblins and such like. I also believe that they are not always as cute as people believe them to be. However, I like them and will always believe, until it can be proven that they don't exist. I believe they are little people who live in trees and undergrowth, and they don't like to be disturbed. I also believe they come out at night... never in the daytime. Hence, we don't see them, but I am convinced they are there.
One experience I had... I put out food for the faeries... at the bottom of my garden, in a terracotta angel feeder. This was on a special night and the moon was full. I went down and checked very early the next morning, and the food had gone... it wasn't food that birds would have eaten... it was apple and cheese... all gone! Well, I'll leave it up to your imagination. The feeder, by the way, is fixed to the top of the fencepost, about 4-41/2 feet from the ground.

fluffleshark (402) | 3 years ago | Thanks for your response Darkwing! I have been reading through the responses and I am so excited to see so many people who DO believe! I think my 'want to believe' beliefs are very similar to yours. I believe that, if fairies do exist, which they probably do, they are not necessarily the pretty angelic toothfairy type, but rather the different 'species' like hobbits, elves, goblins, brownies etc etc., and also not necessarily always very kindly disposed towards humans! Interesting experience you had with the feeder...! SOOO disappointing though that the movie stuff wasn't true!:(

|
Darkwing (7519) | 3 years ago | I know. I was a little upset at it not being true, but it certainly caused a big stir and awakened the world to the possibilities of other human-type life forms on this planet. Good for the Girls!!!

4. emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | Well I believe in them, no matter what some might think. I don't know if they are neccessarily like many have protrayed them over the years but I do think they are there. I also think they are something to be believed in to be seen:) If you don't believe you will not see them as they truly are but only how you want to perceive them.
| |
| |
|
|
fluffleshark (402) | 3 years ago | Yes I tend to agree with you. Do you mean that, for example, if someone doesn't believe in them and they see a fairy, they might mistake it for a leaf or a dragonfly or something?

Galena (4040) | 3 years ago | you're wrong there.
I didn't used to beleive in them and then I saw one. a little shrivelly, withered, snarly faced little man with black skin and wings like a cranefly.
I've seen a few more since, but until I saw that one I didn't really beleive in them.
