I remember when I was a teen, tie dying T Shirts was the in thing. Everyone did it. I have noticed that it is starting to be the in thing again. Does anyone tie dye T Shirts?

Hi,

I've tie dyed shirts. My college soccer team wanted some cool shirts just for the team for practice, so we all got together one night and just tie dyed our shirts together any way we wanted them. It was a lot of fun.

That sounds like so much fun. Isn't it great that you can make such cool shirts out of a plain T shirt.

I would do tye dye projects with my girl scout troop. They loved it. I am not sure that I have a need for it myself. Maybe if the grandkids came over and I needed a project for them. Summertime is a great time to do it. The grass doesn't mind the color change.

I just love tye dyed shirts. They are great to wear in summer. They just are plain "Cool". I make them from mens T Shirts and make them loose so they are comfy.
I bet the girl scouts did love them. Do you do it each year or was it a one time thing?

Oh yes- I've tie dyed many a shirts in my life and I'm not that old lol. I was part of many drama teams and some sports and we always tie dyed our shirts. They were just a fun way to make them personal and only for your team. It is so much fun and there are so many ways to make cool designs!

I had no idea that this many people still tye dyed shirts. I love them. I wish all the schools would use this method for sports. They are much cheaper than the uniforms and they look better in my opinion. It is fun to do as a group.

I/We use to tie dye when we were teenagers. I have not done this in years. But it can be fun and a great way to spend time with the kids and have fun all at the same time.
I'm glad to hear that is starting to come back into style.

I had no idea that they were still popular till I was reading all these comments. I am impressed. I dont see too many on people these days. I love them. They are so cool to make and wear. I think they are comfy. I may make several for myself now that they are coming back in style.

Oh my gosh, I remember tie-dying a few shirts in my time! I love colorful clothing, so tie dye has never gone out of fashion in my eyes! ^_^ I would love to do some tie-dye work again. I remember it being so much fun! I had totally forgotten about the days when I used to work on such projects. Thank you for the reminder! ^_^

Hey! Yes, I used to do this! (As a male, of course, it was the 'scientific' thing about resisting dyes and not letting it soak in too far, and then the 'childish' wonder that there was a pattern there - like folding paper and cutting snowflakes or rows of people holding hands). I also was fascinated by the possibilities of wax resist and even bought a tjantang but my wife got interested, so I lost interest - that's the way things go!

You and your wife could do it together you know? LOL Family fun!

I have been wearing tye dyed shirts all my life. I also make them with white mens Tshirts. When my daughter was pregnant I made her one with a bulls eye for her belly, it just kept getting bigger with her belly. I made a bunch of them and hung them out on the clothes line to dry, they looked so cool lined up like that. I had pink, blue, black and purple ones.

myLot reputation of 99/100. villageanne (5891)   ranked 4 out of 467 in be frugal  6 years ago

Wow! I would love to see the bulls eye one on a pregnant woman. I bet it was cool. That is a great idea. Maternity clothes are so expensive. That would be such a frugal way to make stylish maternity clothes. I love way you description of the clothes line scene. How cool is that??? I love your idea. LOL

Yes, I make and create tie dye t-shirts almost on a daily basis to sell online and through various venues like the flea markets and Ebay. I thoroughly enjoy it! The anticipation of waiting to see how it turns out is almost unbearable!

I used to tie dye t-shirts all the time, but I haven't done it since I graduated from high school. My friends and I used to dye shirts in our class colors for Homecoming Week--especially for themed days like "Twin Day." We'd also do matching shirts in blue for the Homecoming games. I don't really have a reason to do it now, though I'd like to start again.
