Left Behind Series  |

 Obviously the Left Behind series by Tim Lahaye & Jerry Jenkins is popular, given the number of books they've sold. I'm just wondering how other people feel about their view of end times prophecy? I personally agree with their views and like the fact that they take so many things literally, but how do you feel about it? Do you agree with them and look at their books as a way of learning more about Revelation? Or do you just read them because they are really good stories?

I am not a big reader.. but this one i read from back to from.. one of the books i stared and finished in one day the first one i beleive and i just couldn't put it down.. Great authors

| 2. HeartofFaith (22) | 3 years ago |  Yes, I have enjoyed the series. Seeing as they wrote the book, with scripture beeing their basis for it. Personally it helps me to understand Revelations better. Because it was written with a lot of symbolism,not in our time, it helps me. There is another series out by Tim Lahaye written around the book of Daniel, have you read that? What do you think of it?

What a person needs to do is read Revelations and then read the books. People are wondering about the weather and different things that are going on in the world. Well all they have to do is read Revelations.

I respect the fact that Tim Lahaye has had so many years of education and research when it comes to prophecy, but I think it's a good idea for anyone to read the scripture for themselves as well. So far though, I really do agree with most of their views. | |

When it comes to the prophecies, I'm not sure I agree with all of it, but that blame is on myself. I didn't start looking up the scriptures they quoted from the begining. I think I started following along in Apollyon. Eventually I want to own all the books, and to study the scriptures that they quote. With all that out, I think I do agree with what they are saying. I really like the fact that when they quote a scripture they use it in context to the chapter it came from. They don't take a verse out of a chapter on faith to try to back up something on marriage, Unless they are talking about faith in marriage.

As much as I like the authors - I don't like the idea of drawing conclusions without reading the passages myself. I do agree with everything that I've double checked. They are great books! | |

| 7. deebomb (8980) | 3 years ago |  I have read quite a few of the left behind books I can't agree with them for one thing my bible tell me that whem christ comes he will comewith a loud noise a shout.When you check Matthew 24:3-31, you will see the line up of End of the Age (verse 3) events that Christ Himself gave in this passage of Scripture. The Beginning of Sorrows, (verse 8) the Abomination of Desolation, (verse 15) the Great Tribulation, (verse 21) and His Appearance, (verse 30) and then a GATHERING. (verse 31) "He shall send His angels with a great sound of a Trumpet and they shall GATHER together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." We call this the "7th TRUMPET GATHERING". There is no mention of a preliminary escape or departure in this passage of Scripture. We do not believe in a rapture, only a GATHERING of saints unto CHRIST'S PRESENCE, right here on Earth at His Coming.

4:16 "For the Lord HImself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first."
4:17 "Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord."
If this gathering happens right here on earth how do you explain "being caught up together in the clouds"?
Just curious where you put this with end times in mind.

8.  danvino (875) | 3 years ago |  I usually take any book with a grain of salt. Having said that, one may be wondering where I get my info and knowlede from. By studying the Bible.
I learn about the Book of Revelation, if this is what you are refering to, by going to the Book of Revelation and studying, comparing Scripture, maybe get someone's opinion, then going back to Scripture and comparing.
There are many ways of studying the Bible and learning about "Left Behind" without just reading someone's book on the subject. Because, afterall, they got their information from the Bible, hopefully, and probably by studying others opinions on the subject.
"Really good stories" do not impress me, but the Bible does.

| 9. imadriscoll (1373) | 3 years ago | I started reading them when I was in college and then I got busy and put the books on hold. I would really like to go back and read them again, but I think that I would have to start completely over so that I would better understand the characters.
I remember agreeing with their views, but was still a very young Christian at the time ... so I would also like to go back and read them knowing what I do now about the Bible.
I think that it helped me understand a lot about end times that I just was not understanding from reading the Bible by itself. I know this is dangerous at times, but it really made things come alive for me.
