My neighbors tried to kill my dogs!! |
|
I have a 1 year old Mini Dachshund, and a new 2 month old PittBull puppy. They have stated to me when I got the puppy that they were scared to have a pittbull in the neighborhood. Well, I have had them all of my life, and raised and trained them well. I also have a cat, and am not worried about him also. I have no qualms about her being around my yound daughter or anyone elses. It has been proven, by myself and I am sure many others that you can raise a pittbull not to be violent. Anyway, I assured them she would be aclamated to their dogs, children, and she would always be in her own fenced yard and if they were still scared they should not let their children jump my fence to take the short cut to the park. Well this was about 2 weeks ago, and this morning I found a small dish of what seems to be antifreeze stuck under my fence between my home and theirs. I called the sheriffs Department and they said they could not do anything because I cannot prove they did it, and my dogs did not get into it or get hurt. I am furious! There is no other way it could have gotten there as it is between two fenced in locked yards. The only reason my babies did not get into it is because I kept them in until I could go out with them this morning. I am not sure the exact effects of antifreeze on a dog, but have heard it will kill them. What in the world am I to do now? I will not get rid of my dogs, and I will not allow these people to hurt them. How do you suggest I take care of this? Thanks in advance and any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only way to solve this issue is to go and talk to the neighbours, and say to them that if they will attempt to do it once more you wont look on this so politely and you will do a very similar thing to them when they wont notice!
And if they are so scared to have pitbull in the neighberhood - well they can always keep their fence up:)

amafrias (321) | 3 years ago | Well, if you read correctly you would see that it is the pitt bull they are scared of and she is only 2 months old and has never been violent, nor has my dachshund. They are just ignorant to the truth as is seems a lot of people are. An animal thrives on love and attention, and without it they can become unsociable and a danger to society. Any dog, not just pitt bulls. Mine get plenty of both along with good training.

That is who you need to contact. Yes antifreeze will kill dogs I'm pretty sure of it.
That's so horrible, I can't imagine ever trying to hurt a dog or cat. It breaks my heart & I can totally understand why you would be ticked off. Maube you could not confront them about it but istead be all sneaky like a cat... and try to catch them in the act, video tape it or take pictures of them doing this. Then you will have the proof that you need.
LOL I'm so horrible, but that's what I would do if I ws in your shoes.

107. iheartducks (255) | 3 years ago | Wow - that is horrible. Have you talked to them about the antifreeze? You should go to their door with the dish and ask them if it is theirs. You don't want to ruin your relationship with them, but talk to them about it. Also, as a side note dogs will usually not drink antifreeze because they now add a special scent to it that makes dogs not want to drink it.
I agree that you need to install a camera. My neighbor was spraying my dogs down with water last winter and the police said there was no way of knowing that he was doing it and not me (why someone would do that to their own dogs, I don't know). He said I needed a picture or video of him doing it. I never installed a camera because I am poor, but one morning I caught him doing it and yelled at him (we already had a bad relationship) and he seemed to stop. So, maybe confronting them would work for you too.
Good luck, I hope this helped!!

109. oneandonemakesix (24038) | 2 years ago | hey ama,
I know this is 1 year later, and I hope things settle down but if I could I would find a way to set up a survelience camera to see if I could capture the people that did it, and I would definitely go over there and tell them I did not want their kids jumping the fence to take the short cut to the park.
And I would tell her that someone had put antifreeze in a bowl under the fence and flat out say because of it you did not want people in your yard....
Yes antifreeze can kill a dog, and when I was in a neighborhood there was one man there at times that would kill animals that came onto his property that way.

110. kafueenu (241) | 3 weeks ago | I agree with the previous comments, a hidden camera is the best solution, and help from a local support group for pets, aid is never bad. Those who try to kill animal should be punished, it is attempted murder also right. And you should have asked the police to fingerprint the evidence, I mean the dish or even the surface of the fence. If it matches, then they are guilty.
