My neighbors tried to kill my dogs!!

My neighbor did kill our dog. She was just a mix but my kids had her in the park behind our house and she wandered away with her leash still on. She went by his house, he put her in his truck 7 miles away and shot her. He thought she was dead and just left her, she came all the way back to us with a 22 bullet in her jaw.
To top it all off, the vet didn't see a wound and said he probably punched her. He kept her overnight and in the morning said he shaved an area that had swelled and she had been shot. Her jaw was destroyed and we had to put her down.
The police found 18 collars in the kids truck he just did it for thrills. He went to jail for 3 months for killing our dog.
I don't know what's wrong with some people.
I have a feeling they won't drink antifreeze though. They are not as dumb as your neighbor might think. That stuff tastes real bad. I think if I were you I might put some in front of them to see if they go for it, don't let them drink it, just see if they will try. I'll bet they will take a sniff and walk away sneezing.
But the camera is a good idea. It's just a shame they can't leave you alone.

dun mind about them, is a protection for urself for having a dog. they had no right to take away it unless the law said so. Just hav to beware of ur neighbour's actions and like some suggest put on the camera to record and as a proof.

1st response is good, though I'd leave the bowl on their porch so they know you know about it.

In some places they have laws about the pit bulls, I think if you keep your dog under control you are not breaking any laws, but yes you do to get something on these people to so they can be made to stop what they are doing.

I really hate pitbulls, ive heard about one that killed a kid and another one chewed a kid up really bad.

See, that's what I don't like about media. They blow stories about pit bulls COMPLETELY out of proportion! The dogs are NOT naturally mean and aggressive. It's the OWNERS! Abusive owners hit and treat the dogs cruelly. Then these dogs come abusive and aggressive as well. The media exploits these dogs as dangerous and such because they hear about a pit bull attack. Most likely the owners of that dog treated it horribly.

I think what your neighbors did is completely out of control! And their kids take a shortcut through your back yard you say? Why do you let them:\. I wouldn't let kids go through my property in the first place. If they tried to kill you dog because they are worried about their children being hurt on property they shouldn't be on in the first place, they should face some sort of criminal charges.

call the police and get some cameras. I would also be care when your pets are outside. Dont let them go out without you. And make sure you watch them while they are out there. they may have thrown something over the fence that could hurt them also.

When I lived on the military post I had a pug that was always bugged by the kids in our area trying to harm him in anyway. Lets just say thank God that my husband was an MP there and also handled the underage kids. He had them so scared that they was coming over mowing are lawn just to make sure that he wouldn't send them to community service!haha

Maybe you could get a security camera of some sort and videotape the area where this happened that way you can prove who did it if it were to happen again. I would get a hidden camera of some sort so you can see who is trying to kill or harm your dogs. It is terrible that someone would do something like that but obviously somebody did it.
