My neighbors tried to kill my dogs!!  |

 I have a 1 year old Mini Dachshund, and a new 2 month old PittBull puppy. They have stated to me when I got the puppy that they were scared to have a pittbull in the neighborhood. Well, I have had them all of my life, and raised and trained them well. I also have a cat, and am not worried about him also. I have no qualms about her being around my yound daughter or anyone elses. It has been proven, by myself and I am sure many others that you can raise a pittbull not to be violent. Anyway, I assured them she would be aclamated to their dogs, children, and she would always be in her own fenced yard and if they were still scared they should not let their children jump my fence to take the short cut to the park. Well this was about 2 weeks ago, and this morning I found a small dish of what seems to be antifreeze stuck under my fence between my home and theirs. I called the sheriffs Department and they said they could not do anything because I cannot prove they did it, and my dogs did not get into it or get hurt. I am furious! There is no other way it could have gotten there as it is between two fenced in locked yards. The only reason my babies did not get into it is because I kept them in until I could go out with them this morning. I am not sure the exact effects of antifreeze on a dog, but have heard it will kill them. What in the world am I to do now? I will not get rid of my dogs, and I will not allow these people to hurt them. How do you suggest I take care of this? Thanks in advance and any help would be greatly appreciated.

61.  jal1948 (1299) | 3 years ago |  a dog is never a danger to the owner or the household members but you cannot assure that he will not be a danger to others,including the neighbours,that is basically, one keeps dogs for protection,your neighbours are justified in being scared,but not in trying to harm the poor ANIMAL,you need to talk to them and aussage their fears,so that they are comfortable with your dog,and they are not restricted in any manner from taking shortcuts as before.

I do not have my dogs for protection, I have them for company and love. I disuade them from barking at people that go by. I reprimand them when and if they bark at people that come over. Now they just attack them with kisses.. | |

My other tennent heard the commotion and try throwing water ontop of the dogs to separate them. Finally the owner of the Rotwilder came out and managed to get his dog off of ours after nearly killing him.

When I was a kid I got a neighbors that disliked cat so much that they throw stones to them but some woman told police that and those neighbors paid $$$ for that and never done anything like that anymore.

Their children shouldn't be jumping your fence to start. If you want to get them on something call the police next time you see them do it. I just don't see how anyone chould purposely hurt or try to kill another living creature! Espicaially when it haddn't done anything. When your dogs get older you might want to put them on a running chain so they can't dig under the fence and cross other to their yard because I'm not sure what these horrible people could do to the dog with in tresspassing into their yard. | |

Pittbulls are sweet unless brought up to be violent and it is a shame that most people do not realize this. I would keep my dogs indoors and only let them out when I can keep a close watch on them or move. I do not know why your neighbor would let her kids jump the fence if she is so worried about them!
