My neighbors tried to kill my dogs!!  |

 I have a 1 year old Mini Dachshund, and a new 2 month old PittBull puppy. They have stated to me when I got the puppy that they were scared to have a pittbull in the neighborhood. Well, I have had them all of my life, and raised and trained them well. I also have a cat, and am not worried about him also. I have no qualms about her being around my yound daughter or anyone elses. It has been proven, by myself and I am sure many others that you can raise a pittbull not to be violent. Anyway, I assured them she would be aclamated to their dogs, children, and she would always be in her own fenced yard and if they were still scared they should not let their children jump my fence to take the short cut to the park. Well this was about 2 weeks ago, and this morning I found a small dish of what seems to be antifreeze stuck under my fence between my home and theirs. I called the sheriffs Department and they said they could not do anything because I cannot prove they did it, and my dogs did not get into it or get hurt. I am furious! There is no other way it could have gotten there as it is between two fenced in locked yards. The only reason my babies did not get into it is because I kept them in until I could go out with them this morning. I am not sure the exact effects of antifreeze on a dog, but have heard it will kill them. What in the world am I to do now? I will not get rid of my dogs, and I will not allow these people to hurt them. How do you suggest I take care of this? Thanks in advance and any help would be greatly appreciated.

81.  bonbon50 (457) | 3 years ago |  You called the wrong people. The Sheriff's department cares little about such matters. Rather, you should have called someone who strictly looks into these matter. The Sheriff's department could have had the fluid tested and took prints, but things like this are not at the top of their list. Antifreeze attracts cats and dogs because there is a sweetness to it. What it does is slowly (and painfully) poison the animal. Call you local vet to see who to contact about this. You may also want to get an attorney to issue a letter of warning to these people, if possible. Tainted meat will probably be next!

If I can never really trust them about this, I may have to borrow the money for a high privacy fence on their side. I'll make sure the back side is downright ugly..lol | |

82.  tlex107250 (647) | 3 years ago |  Your right, death is the final result of ingesting to much anti freeze. It could also lead to blindness, and kidney failure. The best thing to do, is hook up a surveillance system to monitor the area along the fence line where the dish of anti freeze had appeared from, and record, and review the footage if another dish appears in the same area again. If it shows the person who is doing this, turn over the results to the sheriffs department, and then they can follow up with there investigation. There are many types of Security Cameras that can be used for this, anywhere from a cable system, to a wireless system that can be hooked up to an internet site, and can be monitored at any time, from anywhere in the world. Good luck in catching the person(s) responsible for this act of cruelity, and I hope that nothing else will happen to your dogs.

| 86. cuddleme01 (1726) | 3 years ago |  you have the right to own a thing and that includes owing animals like dogs as long as they do not pose threat to the community your at. YOur dogs are considered your property so you have every right to defend and protect them.
given the situation you have right now, you no evidence to prove that your neighbors are hurting your dogs or that they have plans of killing them. absence the evidence you still cannot complain and legally do something about it. the best thing you can do is look for evidence that will pin point these people who plan of killing your dogs or those who put antifreeze under your fence.if you have a picture or video to show or that you can find a witness then the better. these evidence will give you a legal standing to act because there has been a right violated already and you have suffered an injury to your property.

Everyone knows that anti-freeze will kill a pet so they knew what they were doing. It was definite deliberate. I wouldn't let them get away with it. To me it would be classed as animal cruelty.

Even if it means taking your computer moving it near a window that is close to the backyard and setting a webcam up in the window recording a lot of the time that your not home or your asleep and stuff like that. I just can't comprehend why people would want to do that.
