What especially unusual attention do you give your cat? |
| |
| When I go to bed, My cat stands next to my head and nudges at the blankets until I lift it a bit and she crawls under and sleeps in my armpit all curled up. She has always slept on me in bed but only the last couple years she has wanted under the blankets. She is about 8 years old and I think her bones are starting to ache a little and she likes the heat under the blankets. What do you do for your cats that is unnusual? | | | | | |

| | We have one that does just that. Another one will shred every roll of toilet paper if we don't hide them. Another will bang the cabinet door where his food is, to let us know he's hungry. ‹(°¿°)› | | | | | | |

| | My cat attacks and chews on toilet paper rolls. I haven't figured out why, we just keep them will hidden from her. She'll carry it around, and bat it around the house before attacking it and chewing on it. She'll just rip pieces out of it all over it. | | | |

| | Yes, I have come home to many a destroyed roll of toilet paper. I even keep my bathroom door shut, but the buggers have figured out how to open the door. The young one will also get just about anything out of the garbage like q-tips or what-not and chew them into oblivion. That particular cat likes to sit in my lap on his behind like a human while I am on the computer and watch the mouse arrow move around on the screen. Our middle cat we "torture" just because he lets us. We kiss him and stuff him under one of the blankets and he kicks so all you can see is his legs up in the air and he can see through the blanket because it's one of those cheapo hospital blankets, so you can see his little head moving around. Our oldest cat just likes to lay in our lap and sleep, and he's enormous, so our legs go numb, but he's old and needs the warmth. | | | |

| | Our middle cat fetches too! We have these little mice that we throw and he brings them back. It's funny because these mice have been around for so long that they've got stuffing coming out of them so they look evicerated. They also end up missing eyes, whiskers, ears...I swear, all the detail that goes into those stupid 1-and-a-half inch toys...only to be completely destroyed. | | | |

| | I spoil my kitty, Zoe. She is my baby! She sleeps with me every night - sometimes under the cover, sometimes by my feet and sometimes right up on the pillow next to my head. She likes to "knead" me with her paws to make me softer! *hah* I let her give me kisses and she nudges me with her head if she wants more kisses. She is a big talker and will let me know if her food bowl is empty - she will also try to trick me into thinking its empty but really wants me to give her treats or wet food. I let her lay on me (on my chest) when we are watching TV too. She follows me everywhere. If I am in one room, I can look over and she will be curled in a ball sleeping nearby. If I get up and go into another room - about 3 minutes later I will look over and there she is again, sleeping in a ball closeby. If I go into a room and close the door.. she will come and scratch for me to let her in. If the house is dark and she can't find me - she cries until I call her. She also comes better than my dogs. If I call her, she always comes running and I can hear her little bell ringing around her neck. She also likes to puuurrrr all the time. She's like a little motorboat. If we have visitors, she will go right up to them and stand on her back legs trying to reach their hands - like she wants to introduce herself. She is not shy at all and loves people. She also LOVES our dogs. She likes to sleep right next to them and thye are BIG dogs too. She isn't afraid of anything. I love her like she's my own baby. She's a siamese mix by the way with gorgeous blue eyes. | | | | | | |

| | She sounds like one of a kind, although she reminds me of Tabitha in a way, who used to like to sleep under the blankets at night and follow me around the house. | | | |

| | Brimm (my oldest cat) comes when I call him too, and also calls if he's woken up from a nap and has "misplaced" us. So we go "we're in here" and here he comes. Our other two don't seem to know that they have names. Wicket thinks his name is Buddy, thanks to daddy, and Pistachio thinks his name is "Git out of there right now!" (he's a kitten). | | | |

| | My cat does that too, but I won't let him under the covers as he always gets down there then freaks out. My cat has his own drinking water in a glass next to my bed. If it is empty, he will sit next to it and look at you. Then I say OK and I have to get up and get him water. Just like a husband. | | | | | | |

| | Wow, ours drink out of our glasses and then it gets donated to them. lol So we end up with several around just for them. When the water gets low, they dip their paws in and lick it off their paw. Its Funny to see them squish their faces in the glass trying to reach the water too, and watching their tongues reach way out. | | | |

| | Wicket, our middle one has to drink running water from the sink faucet. He also sleeps IN the bathroom sink. We tried turning the water on to scare him out of it, but he just sat there getting wet. He didn't care. | | | |

Well sometimes my Dad lays on the floor since it is bigger than the couch to stretch out a bit. Smokey comse up and lays on his stomach. My Dad says "get him of mme, please" so i put my feet out in front of his head, and he takes a step, hits them, takes another step, hits them, and so on until he is off my dads belly and next to him instead. | | | | | | |

| | I have a male manx cat named (thomas)I just love my cat.I had him fixed while he was very young so he knows nothing about female cats,i also had his front claws removed because he is a house cat..I have had good success with having his front claws removed because he has learned to use his back claws in case of a fight with another cat or to climb a tree...Hes a big cat,and has a very soft fur,and he is cuddly,he is so flexable he feels like he has no bones ,just a lot of softness.I have had people to tell me he has extreemly soft fur...He comes in my bedroom at night and lays beside me on the bed to sleep..I can talk to him and he looks at me and I do believe that he understands what I am saying..He is not jealouse of dogs, because I have a puppy also and he is ok with that, but i cannot have another cat around he is so jealous..I have a parakeet and a Parrot and he knows they belong here and does not bother them at all.The special things I do for my cat is for his water bowl i have purchased a cat waterfall for his water bowl,if the water is low and stops flowing he will fuss until I fix it...He loves cream from a can and begs for it every night,so he has to have a small bowl to make him happy..He will only eat 2 kinds of cat food,so i have to give him just those 2...He hates Tuna which i find a little weird...He has learned to knock on the door when he wants out,he uses the bathroom and knocks to get back in..Yes he has a litter box but he demands to go outside to do his business. If i leave from home he will use his litter box..he is so well behaved that he touches nothing in the house at all..Never jumps on anything.i taught him as a baby not to bite,so he only licks, thats his kisses..He has no tail because the manx are born without tails..he only jumps on your lap if you have nothing on your lap such as a cup of coffee or food ,he seems to know not to...He is a wonderful pet and I love him very much... | | | | | | |

| | That title has it the wrong way to be blunt. Actually, I have two cats named Butterball Jr., and Topper. On some rare occasions, Topper feels a lot friendly that he starts doing a stomach massage when he climbs up on me. It happened to me earlier this week as I was going to bed. Also, when I am on my laptop on my bed, he sleeps right behind the screen so that he gets close to me at the same time. I guess that he didn't want me all alone in my room after being so cramped up in there. Same with Butterball Jr. He is a bit wilder than Topper. Oh wait. Did I say a bit? I meant a LOT! He was completely crazy as he was friendly. So much that I LET HIM use my fingers and my hands as clawtoys and chewtoys. That way I can have long memories of him through the scars he made on me. He used to knock down my curtains and skitter through the rooms like a bat out of Hell! I bought them some cat treats yesterday to repay them kindly. | | | | | | |

| | My cats lay by my laptop, too. I actually think it's because it gets warm and they are absorbing the heat. My cats also stare at me for like half an hour if they are ready for bed but I am up late. Then they give up and go to bed without me, so I have to fight for room to lay down. That usually involves somebody getting huffy and leaving for a few minutes. | | | |

| | Our cat is the most spoiled cat on the planet. He does about the same thing with the blankets, and he will even come and get me so I will follow him into the bedroom and 'snuggle' him under the covers. As for the achy kitty bones, we give our cat Cosequin, and have for a couple years now. It really has helped him to not limp around, and you can get it at 1800PetMeds. It comes in a capsule, and you mix it into some wet food. Also, it helps keep their bladder a little more supple, since it works on cartlidge, and the bladder is made up of that. Probably more info than you wanted, sorry. :) | | | | | | |

| | My cat does that too. I think that's pretty common. I wish I could get her to sleep on her little bed... I remember the first night she spent here, she was tiny and she didn't want to be alone, so I put her bed next to my bed. I went to sleep and she climbed onto the bed. I got up and put her on her bed, went back to sleep. Five minutes later she climbed onto the bed again. I spent the entire night like this and around 6 AM, the sun was already rising, it was a weekday and I didn't get any sleep, so I gave up and tried to enjoy an hour of sleep! Since then, she always sleeps in my bed. In the Winter, she cuddles up and tries to evict me from my own bed! (How dare she! =o All pets do this,as far as I can tell, with couches, chairs, beds...) But in the Summer, she just sleeps at the feet of the bed or on the floor. | | | | | | |

| | When we got Pistachio, our youngest, he would sleep on my chest in my cleavage. LOL. I guess it's warm there. One time he was on my belly though, and I didn't know he was there and I pulled the blankets way up to my chin and he shimmied up so his head was sticking out so he could breath. I also woke up once with him draped across my neck like a scarf. He's too big for that now. But there is a definite heirarchy in the bed. Brimm gets to sleep directly on a pillow, or near my shoulder. Wicket, the middle one, tries to sleep on the pillow, but at the top, so through the shifting in the night, he ends up under the pillow. And Pistachio sleeps by our knees. | | | |

| | Haha, that's cute. My cat did the same when she was little (sleeping over my pillow or on my chest). She sometimes walks over me when I'm lying down and it's not pleasant because she's growing into a huge cat! | | | |

| | My cat likes sleeping with me, and that's either beside me on or top of me. I've had to change it and get her used to sleeping on my pillow and that took her forever to get used to that. Sometimes, she'll curl up underneath the blankets with me and lay on my arm a bit and fall asleep. That's probably the most unusual attention I give her. She's gotten so used to sleeping with me she sort of expects it anymore. | | | | | | |
