Do you have a septic tank? How often do you get it pumped? Yeah, baby!!

We too have had a septic tank. In fact we had one when we had our farm and it was pumped out once a month but only out onto the trees and think that once in 25 years we actually had to get someone in to pump it out. The only reason that happened was that we had an enormous amount of rain, the place was flooded and septic tank filled as well. Now we pump it out onto the fruit trees every week but all of our gray water goes into it as well. I can honestly say that we always have an abundance of fruit too, so it is well worth the effort. Also we are in drought, and doing this saves us a lot of water as you can imagine. If you have a septic tank, then I am assuming that you are living in a rural area Geminigirl, so you really should consider whether the contents of the septic tank can be utilised in any other way. :)

I apparently have 2 septic tanks - connected mind u but one pumps out one has to be pumped out every few years. I didnt know this and I've been in the house for 5 years...it was last pumped out 12 years ago so its NASTY. The one tank is solids (thats the one that has to get pumped out) and the other is liquids which pumps out whenever it gets to the float level - I thought both were in this tank! Little did i know that the solids was burried 4 feet under ground for the access!
