Are you a modern country or Classic country listener? |
| |
| Hi, I broadcast a country show on internet radio ( www.radiogetswild.com ) and just need some input on what the main stream of tunes should be, more modern or more classic,or an even mix of both . Your Input is really helpful. Thank You Gene aka DJ Doublem RGW Broadcaster "Decade 5 Country" sat/sun 9pm to 1am PST on www.radiogetswild.com | | | | | |

| | My parents listened to the old time country so I grew up with that. but if I had to choose, I would choose the new country because I think it reflects my generation of country better. I love some of the new singers like Keith Urban. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. They are all good. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, They are all good, and some of the new country artists still like to keep some of the old sound in their songs | | | |

| | I must say I enjoy a mix of both, but my preference is for more classicial pieces. But then, I am a bit old fashioned. I really don't like the modern rap music, as I don't feel it has much melody within it. | | | | | | |

| | I was raised on the old tunes, and the station that I'm with dosen't play rap,hip-hop, or talk shows. so no problems there :) | | | |

| | Great selection of stars. However, I had a collection of Slim Whitman 78's back in the fifties, and there wasn't a jukebox in Melbourne at the time that didn't have one or two of his songs, so I think you should have him in the classical group. You're also missing one of my favorites of the modern times, and that's Don Williams, just love him. All in all though, you have a great taste in music. I'm sure you'd like the late Slim Dusty from Australia too. His most famous song would be 'The Pub With No Beer.' | | | |

| | I have to admit I have never heard Slim Dusty and many others either. I have been living outside the States all but 5 years on and off since mid-1957 and many places I lived in that time were not into country music so I had to do with my own collection. Those were the days long before computers and CD's. Yes, are right Slim Whitman is very much a classic...must have had a senior moment there.

| | I LOVE it all. I would say I would like to hear a mixture of both. I love the oldies, but would like a few new ones mixed in. Or the other way around. I guess I just can't decide which one I love the most.... | | | | | | |

| | That is my thought too a mix of both adds a bit of live to what you are listening to, most stations get stuck in a rut, and you end up hearing the same track/song over 10 times in a day. To me that turns listeners away cause they get tired of hearing them over and over | | | |

| | I couldn't agree with you more hcromer. In my view in order to be a classing country singer you gotta have that "twang" that goes with it. There are a few of the new singers, like Randy Travis, who still have it and as long as they around good country will not die. | | | |

| | I agree, there are a few songs out there that I'm not sure what gener they should be in, but they find their way in to the country group, I do play them too, cause there are listeners that do like them too | | | |

| | Growing up, I had the privilege of listening to several of my mothers 8 track tapes. Most of which, were artists like Don Williams, Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty and so on and so forth. I grew accustom to country music and I enjoy a good mixture of both. My biggest complaint with any radio station is song repetition. I can hear the same song 3 times in a single hour and, I find it quite difficult to stay tuned in after a while. So, I would say a good variety, regardless of your decision to integrate classic and modern country music, should make your listeners very happy. I'll be sure to tune in. | | | | | | |
