Who do you think has been the greatest political statesman in your country? In India, I feel the greatest has been Mahatma Gandhi with his ideology of Non-Violence. Cheers! Ram

Yes, Gandhi is the greatest Indian statesman, however i would like to omit the word political, especially after seeing the political leaders at present, who are only interested in vote bank politics. The greatest achievement on his part is the achievement of freedom, without shedding much blood. It just shows disobedience to colonial rule, their taxation system, their finished goods etc. is good enough to win the Independence for any country.

Rightly said about his methodology. But, just because today's politicians are corrupt, does not mean that we should treat the word "Politics" as a dirty word. Cheers! Ram

Ghandi was one of the WORLD'S great people. He taught the entire world about peace and peaceful demonstration. As far as Americans go, I would have to say Abraham Lincoln.

I actually absolutely disagree with you on this. Nehru was a politician but not a political statesman. Nehru gave India the policies but never the vision. The vision was provided by Mahatma Gandhi and that is what makes him a statesman viz-a-viz Nehru who was just a politician. Cheers! Ram

I actually do count Subhash as a statesman. The only thing that makes him different from Gandhi is that Subhash went the violence route, whereas Gandhi went the non-violence route. Cheers! Ram

O K .I accept your opinion. But we have to oppose whenever we are seeing the bad things. If it is very vulgur we have to fight for that. But Gandhi's principle said that 'dont make violence'. It shopuld not be like that. I think a person who has the combination of both Mahatma & Subhjash Chandra Bosh can be the best political statemant. Do you aware of any person like that?

Gandhi never stated that don't fight against wrong. He just said don't use violence as a means to fight against wrong. He never said that don't kill the wrong, he just said don't kill the wrongdoer. There is a subtle difference between the two. Cheers! Ram
