Ink Cartridges |

| So what do you do when your ink is empty? Do you chuck them and go buy new ones? Do you recycle or donate them to a cause? Do you trade them in to a store for some money off new ones? Or do you refill them? I personally refill them. I can do so for a dollar or two per refill. I usually can refill them at least 5 times (usually more) before the cartridge starts giving me problems. I own a Lexmark printer. The cartridges for it are some of the most expensive ones I have ever seen; so for me refilling is the best alternative. | | | | | |

| | I did not have good luck with refilling at first but have gotten the hang of it now. They give you a few dollars toward new ones? | | | |

| | Cant refill ink cartridges, have to replace them and toss the old one in the garbage..I wish refill was an option here, I certainly would save myself lots of cash, as its almost 50 bucks for a ink cartridge here for our printer.. | | | | | | |

| | Cartridges can be very expensive. Do you have the option of remanufactured? You usually have to buy them online but they are cheaper. Why can't you refill there? Are you not allowed or something? I don't take mine to refill, I do it myself and buy the ink 'in bulk'. | | | |

| | I myself have a canon printer and I have resorted to refilling my ink cartridges it is alot less expensive, a little messier but well worth the savings. but ya you are right after about the 5th time they get pretty worn out and it is better for your printer to buy new so you don't end up with a big mess inside the printer...thought I was the only one that did the refill thing good to see someone else does. | | | | | | |

| | Refilling is SO much cheaper! Obviously we still have to buy new cartridges but it takes a while before we have to. Do you buy new OEM ones or do you get remanufactured ones? (I know many people who have tried refilling without success and so they give up. Most have waited till their cartridge is completely empty before doing so.) | | | |

| | I know several people who have had bad relations with refill shops, but the one I go to is very good. They refill my ink and laser cartridges at a very low cost. Since I have ink cartridges refilled almost every week, refilling is my only option. They often "doctor" the cartridges with steam baths and other things and I get anything up to 23 refills in the one cartridge, so it is a very great money saver. A new ink cartridge is over $50 and the refill is $18. The laser cartridges are reconditioned, so it never wears out. I exchange mine for a reconditioned one, at less than half the price of a new one. | | | | | | |

| | I've never used a refilling shop. I have always done it myself. I runs me about $1 or 2 each refill. I may start to go to a shop once every couple of refills so they can steam clean it and stuff. Thanks for the great idea. | | | |

| | There are a few that we've tried refilling, but the color doesn't come out quite right. It's fine for basic printing, but not for details like photos. Lately we've been getting good deals on cheap printers that come with ink, so we just buy a new printer. :) Unfortunately, DH changes the cartridges when needed, and leaves the old ones all over the Computer Desk. He insists he needs them for something so we can't throw them out. Hmm... Right. | | | | | | |

| | My brother has a collection of those empty cartridges all over his desk. I almost never print photos. I print mainly grocery coupons and stuff for homeschooling my daughters. Most of my printing is in black. I have had some color ones come out really weird (some I have gotten right and some ended up in the trash). Lately I have been getting good results with the color ones. Thanks for replying | | | |

| | Have you ever tried refilling them? I do it all the time now. I only buy new ones if I absolutely have to. I strongly believe that they are WAY over priced!! | | | |

| | Thank you for replying. That is such a nice program. Doesn't work for me cause I don't buy the name brand ones. They don't take the aftermarket ones. Plus most places don't take Lexmark back. | | | |

| | My mother in law does the same thing, refilling hers with ink she orders offline. However, we're not lucky enough with our printer to do that. I shouldn't complain really, because we picked it up at for 10. at a garage sale and it's a printer, copier, scanner. But it won't let us refill, has to do with kind of cartridges it puts out. So we just make sure not to do a lot of color printing, LOL. 23.00 for a black one is bad enough. So if we can't refill them, we recycle them. I hate to throw anything away that i can recycle. | | | | | | |

| | What brand of printer do you have? I have a printer, scanner, copier and supposedly the cartridges can't be refilled but I am able. $23 is less than what they charge for a black cartridge for my printer? | | | |

| | I take them to this staor called Cartridge World. They take your old ones and sell you a refilled one for a lot cheaper. I've gotten a few black and couple color cartridges from them and haven't had any problems so far. Ink is just so expensive, this seems like a great way to go. | | | | | | |
