Definitely NOT!! I get freaked if I forget it at home when I go somewhere. I have 2 children and I want to be able to be contacted in case of an emergency at school.

I am a worry wart when it comes to my kids. I want to be able to be reached no matter where I am. I have had to be contacted from the school because of illnesses and thankful I had my cell phone!

I understand and think it's good to have a cell phone. It's great for emergencies. You do want to be reached when your child is ill or hurt. The guilt of not being there when your child needs you is too much to live with.
That being said, I prefer not to become a slave to the cell phone. An emergency is one thing, but a telemarketer is a whole different story.

I think I used my cell phone once every 2-3 weeks. So, yes, I could live without it.

I agree, they're good for emeregencies. When 9/11 happened, I realized at that moment that my children and husband should have a cell phone, but my husband's phone did him no good as it was buried in the rubble of the World Trade Center.
He finanlly contacted me several hours later on an old fashioned pay phone.
So much for cell phones.

Yes, it isn't really that hard to live without a cellphone unless you really depend on that alone.

Oh yeah, I hardly ever use my cell phone. I just started using a cell phone, overall, about a year and a half ago. I only have it for emergencies. No one hardly ever calls me on that phone and I try to use a landline whenever possible. So, I think I could definitely live for a week without the phone because I don't even use it every week.

I could and have, but it's not easy. And for my day job it's plain stupid. I'm not always at my desk but I do need to available.
The lack of public phones nowadays makes living without a cell phone more difficult and dangerous. There was a time when a pay phone was only a street corner away which made it much easier to get help when you needed it. Now, though, if you're stuck, you're stuck.
While I understand the need for cell phones in daily life, what I can't get is the incessant need to constantly talk to someone. I mean, when grocery shopping, when waiting in the doctor's office, at the neighborhood picnic, I see people on the phone 24/7. Are we really that interesting?
