After thinking about it for two days... |
|
I caved and ordered tickets to The Soul to Soul Tour with Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. I know it's a lot of money but the seats are closer than the ones I got my husband for Christmas for Brad Paisley. I decided to order these for his birthday (in May). We really had a good time at Paisley's concert and my husband LOVES Faith Hill. I hope I haven't made a mistake.
Has anyone ever done anything like this? Spent almost $300 on tickets and wondered whether I made the right decision? I am sooooo worried. Guess I shouldn't have blown that $180 on the slots at the last concert. LOL!

patgalca (6025) | 3 years ago | I hope he didn't buy me the same thing for Mother's Day. LOL! I hinted to him that I would like to go see Clint Black but he said no. I'm thinking of asking my mother if she wants to go in on the gift with me. LOL!

2. BarBaraPrz (3351) | 3 years ago | Personally, I think that's too much to spend, but what do I know? I wouldn't spend $30 to see a concert... I'm not familiar with these singers, so don't know if they're worth it. At least there's no smoking at concerts these days. I'd hate to pay that much and have to put up with second hand smoke, too, like we did when we were younger...
You blew $180 at the slots!?! Well, Ms MoneyBags, next time you have more money than you know what to do with it, send some my way, why don't you?;o)

patgalca (6025) | 3 years ago | I just cashed in a GIC I put away five years ago when I got my insurance settlement. Trust me, the money won't last long. My husband has been on my case about not getting a job, I thought the least I could do was treat him to a concert I know he will enjoy. Like I said, I am still doubting my decision.

3. lordwarwizard (10401) | 3 years ago | Wow, you sure are willing to splurge! No matter how much I like the singer, I am just not willing to fork out so much money. And it*is* a lot of money!!:P

patgalca (6025) | 3 years ago | I know. That is why I'm second guessing myself. Thing is, we went to a concert last week where we sat in the highest section and couldn't see anything at all. These are floor seats. I want it to be worth it.

4. spiritwolf52 (2099) | 3 years ago | Wow!! That is a lot of money for a concert. I would never spend that kind o money for a concert no matter who was on the ticket. Back when I was living in the States, that $300.00 would have paid for my mortgage!! I guess if you have the money and can afford it, then it's no big deal. Personally, I wouldn't pay over $60.00. That's what I paid for the last Stones concert that I went to. That was years ago. but that was my budget. I would rather eat myself.

patgalca (6025) | 3 years ago | Now that you all have made me feel entirely guilty about this, I have to say that the tickets were $119 each, then add taxes, handling charges, etc. Total $280 for two tickets. In the past I have bought my husband a futon and a recliner for his birthday. He is very hard to buy for. All he likes is golf and he has everything he needs. I paid $53 each for tickets to a concert recently and we couldn't see we were so far away so I wanted to at least be able to be close enough to see this time. That concert we went to last week was the FIRST concert my husband and I had been together in the 15 years we've been together. We haven't been out on a "date" in ages. We are struggling financially, yes. He is working hard to support our family because I can't work due to illness. The least I could due with my settlement money is treat him to a concert of his favourite singer. And for our marriage, we really need some date nights. I am looking at all the other expenses coming up (Easter, daughter's birthday, graduation and confirmation as well as high school uniform) so I am freaking out slightly. But I am taking the positive attitude that I WILL be selling my writing and bringing money in. And since this concert is for me to, he need not buy me anything for Mother's Day (a week after his birthday).

5. brin578 (6) | 3 years ago | I don't see anything wrong with spending your money on concet tickets. It is your money and you work hard for it. If you think that your husband will enjoy the concert then it was worth getting it for him for his birthday.
I might be a little bit biased becouse I just spent $235 on concet tickets to see The Sourl to Soul concert.

6. ElusiveButterfly (9417) | 3 years ago | I was balking when the tickets went on sale for the Dixie Chicks concert last year. They would have cost us $75 each for decent seating. My frugal side kicked in and I decided not to go. I love to go to concerts, but thinking how expensive they are, I will just listen to the CD.

7. breepeace (2278) | 3 years ago | I just spend almost $200 for tickets to The Police and although I'd like to get tickets for the Soul to Soul concert for my mom, I'm not sure I can justify the price, especially since she'd have to travel to come here for it.
I don't blame you though.. concerts are expensive to go to, but well worth it. They beat sitting at home listening to the CD by far!

patgalca (6025) | 3 years ago | Unfortunately I won't be making it to the concert. I'm going to have to try and sell the tickets on ebay. The date coincides with my daughter's grade 8 graduation.:(

|
decisionmaster (109) | 3 years ago | That's really sad news. When Tim and Faith do the duets, that is the best part of the concert.
