To use the following recipes, you will need to make the All Purpose Convenience Mix first. Just like purchasing a commercial mix, it will come with recipes to use it with so the all purpose convenience mix also needs recipes to make with it. The following recipes are designed to use with this special mix. The mix recipe can be found at http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/951243.aspx?p=0 Make the mix and then add these recipes to the container and you have your own homemade mix ready to use. I hope you enjoy these variety of mixes and recipes. I have tried to print them in a way that was easy to understand but I often do not do so well at this so if you do not understand my directions, just let me know and I will try to do better. They will save your family lots of money and you will feel better about feeding them something that does not have preservatives and other additives. Enjoy and post your results. If you like them, let everyone know. If you change the recipe and have good results, let everyone know that too. Together we can all save money and be healthier and happier. It is a goal that together we can all obtain. Enjoy! Biscuits 3 cups all purpose convenience Mix ¾ cup water Add all the Water to the mix . Am I crazy for being so excited about this? It will save so much time rather than making from scratch. Also I think it will be so much more convenient since it is just the 2 of us now. I really do plan on putting theses mixes in my holiday trailer as well.

Hi Villageanne Thank you, you are absolutely right this is a great mix. For many years I volunteered with a young moms group. These were mostly single young mothers, with little or no kitchen skills. so we held cooking classes and tried to give them all the help we could, Most of them were low income and used the food bank as well so we would find and demonstrate how to use the food bank items and make it as easy and affordable for the moms as possible. Our aim was to make the meals as healthy for them as well. It was a challenge, but in the time I was there i very good success. I went to the girls home and showed them how to prepare 7 different meals. Breakfast, How to cook cereal from scratch, oatmeal, cream of wheat. toast and small fruit. Lunch Grilled cheese, tuna, tomato and cucumber, on whole wheat Sandwiches Supper Meat loaf, chili from scratch, Spaghetti from scratch. lasagna from scratch, Chicken pot pie using feilo pastry for crust. Casseroles using tuna, or salmon, Stir fry using several types of inexpensive meats. As well we made a bunch of home made mixes for them to keep on hand, just as you have suggested. We also had a bran muffin fridge mix that could be cooked in a microwave. We kept it simple, healthy, and inexpensive using items from the food bank. So I commend you on passing on all your from scratch recipes as we need to learn that the box mixes are expensive, and can for the most part be assembled at home. We also taught them to read labels and contents, a lot of what they were wasting their money on was junk food, and no money left for good nutrition. Once they knew how to cook they seldom went to the fast food places because they had no idea on how to turn an oven on. Bless your heart Robin

I agree 100%. I run a county wide food pantry for low income families. I see the young girls who have no idea how to cook. We made a cookbook for them with recipes that use the products that we distribute. It is hard because we have very little funds. Everyone who works at the pantry are volunteer.

thanks for sharing these ideas with us...i make almost everything from scratch it really does help stretch the budget...i ave our weekly grocery bill down to 30.00 a week..plus we spend about 50.00 a month on angelfood so that is around 200.00 a month for a family of 3 and we are never hungry and still have snacks and treats..

Thankyou for these. I am not working outside of home so much now so am trying to make more things from scratch. I find the kids actually eat my cookies and cakes more than they used to eat bought ones. I am also doing a lot more jams and being more inventive with evening meals. Now I have a lot of the basic ingredients at home it is definately saving us money.

Ohh, I knew they would be wonderful! I can't wait to try the cinnamon rolls! You know, I can't believe that more people don't cook this way. One can't say that it is 'too inconvenient' as it is actually quite convenient to have the mix on hand ready to go! How inconvenient is it to have to get in the car, fight traffic, (burning gas!), find a parking place, get your item, stand in line forever, and drive back home! I love being able to open the fridge and pull out the container!
