winrar

i have downloaded many files which were in .rar format and were highly compressed.when i extracted it became twice the size of original.i wonder if there are some tools avaible to do this.how to compress a file to its max...

In my opinion I think Winrar is much more faster than winzip..So, I like to compress my files using winrar only..What about you....Tell which is best?

I've been using Winrar for a long time, had winzip before winrar came in. Winrar is fast and handles more more file type. There are other features like creating and saving profiles which I don't think is possible with winzip....

few days before i m downloading a video file with the size of 1.6MB ...(.RAR file ) when i m extracting it size is 165MB how this compression is possibe ( nearly 100% ) i need the answer which software supports for this...
