Many years ago, when our 28-year-old son was very much younger, he had a sandpit in the garden. Unfortunately the cover was left off one night and the thing was flooded - he was growing out it anyway by then, so it didn't really...

It is raining hard now!
But may I ask- is that question acceptable ? Is it really hard rain when the raindrops sound so loud on galvanized rooftops? It is like hail is pouring from the skies; so strong that I presume the garden's...

MyLot is probably not the best first port of call for advice, but I thought I’d ask you anyway – especially those in the UK – because someone out there might happen to have experience of something like this!
Quite a few times when...

I was just getting my veg out of the fridge to prepare my veggie curry which I'm making tonight. I knew the...

For the past couple of weeks the toad patrol have been out every evening, watching for toads emerging from their winter sleep and heading over to the breeding ponds. The weather has certainly been warm enough (warmest February on...

Some of you have probably read my posts before about the ‘Toad Patrol’.
Every spring toads wake up from hibernation in the woods and make their way to their traditional breeding ponds, which are unfortunately the other side of a...

Today it is in the 60's right now. It will get hot later on.
The sun is up, birds are singing. I also hear tree frogs. There is a lot of dew on the grass.
I have watched the church service I like on television, and have had...

When we had a lotus pond we used to have countless frogs of varying sizes croaking all through the day and night and the orchestra would be more during the rainy season.
Although it made us feel closer to nature the fear of...

There once was a turtle,
Cute as could be,
But he loved a frog,
And just couldn't see,
Why she hopped on every
Lilly pad in town.
He said, "You're too fast,
Why...

This was a bit of a tricky capture. The grass is getting taller around the pond and, more often than not, I don't see frogs/turtles until they've seen me and are already in the water.
I did manage to sneak up on this one though.
