From Aloha From Hawaii by Aaron&Katy “There are few cities in the world, I imagine, where it is perfectly normal to don swimwear and tote your surfboard down the streets,” write RealTravelers Aaron&Katy about radiant Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. From enjoying a resplendent early morning sunrise glowing against the beach sands, to stumbling upon a once-monthly art festival, to hiking Diamond Head Crater, Aaron&Katy had a sun-splashed fun time visiting this archipelago of volcanic islands. Here’s what they have to say about Waikiki Beach:“Waikiki Beach, one of Oahu’s busiest beaches, is lined with stands offering surfboard lessons, as well as high rise chain hotels. Staying only a few blocks away, and with jet lag working to our advantage, Aaron & I were able to wake up early and walk down to experience a sunrise on the empty sands. It was a beautiful sight to see the sky warm, and to look out to the ocean and its miles and miles of blue with no end.’ We spent a few relaxing days exploring the Waikiki area. We stumbled onto a local art festival being held at the park adjacent to Waikiki. We learned it is only held once a month - a lucky find for us!! In the evenings we strolled the tiki torch lined streets, one night stopping for the sunset hula performance on the beach. It was a beautiful and soothing end to the day with the soft sounds of the Ukulele drifting by, the hula dancer’s graceful hand motions seeming to mimic the sway of the palm trees, and the slowly darkening sky beyond.” (more…) If you’re planning to kick off your shoes and relax in Hawaii soon, check out the rest of Aaron&Katy’s journal, Aloha From Hawaii– they have lot of useful tips and gorgeous photos. You may also enjoy journals by Sarahh29 and garbdoubt19, the latter of which has a stack of great hotel and restaurant reviews to peruse.
