I don’t think I’ve written about the installations in the photo before. I hope not. They’re in Bunbury and I couldn’t help taking a photo of the pelican with its nest behind it. I’m guessing it’s the nest but I couldn’t find any...

Another more upbeat news item told of a young pelican in Kalbarri, Western Australia, that is wowing the tourists with his tricks.
Pelicans at Kalbarri can be fed by tourists at a set time each morning. They are only given a...

We are enjoying the resident avian wildlife here. Every day the brown pelicans form a line and fly over the ocean and skim the suface feeding. Several hours later the same line of birds come back. It's their routine.
Yesterday...

Or at least two of them are still here! On our trip to Baton Rouge the other day to take care of mom's banking issues, we were a little early for the bank appointment after times got shifted to later in the day. My hubby had...

Every year residents in Baton Rouge await the arrival of the white pelicans on City Park Lake. These birds have made this their winter home for as long as I can remember. They are large and majestic birds.
The photo was sent...

I am South American, I am Venezuelan, I am from the Caribbean, I was born in the capital city of Venezuela, in Caracas, located in the central region, relatively far from the sea. But I grew up and became an adult on the northeast...

Do you like pelicans? They intrigue me. In some ways, for instance on land, they seem clumsy and not particularly graceful but when they are on the water they look much more dignified and almost regal. In the air they remind me of...

When I moved here to the Great Plains almost 7 years ago I was sad because I am now about as far away from a beach and an ocean as I could be. I love the ocean and the beach and the birds that frequent coastal areas.
There are...

We had a lot of rain last night and, as a result, most of the trails I normally walk were under water today. I did, however, manage to get in a short walk and came across this pelican as it was fishing on one of the ponds.
I...

I stopped by one of the other parks this morning before coming into the office and saw the pelicans are back. It was kind of dark out still so it was a little difficult to get a photo of them. But, I did manage to get one of this...

I have sometimes mentioned that small towns in Western Australia try to come up with innovative ways to attract the tourist dollar. So Cowaramup has its fibreglass cows, Donnybrook has a giant playground and Balingup has painted...

Yesterday the four of us piled into my missus car and headed down to the beach. We were all ready for a get-out-of-town day. It was a perfect day for a winter visit to the beach. Temperatures were in the 60(F)s and there was...

This was a bit of a surprise for me because I usually don't see pelicans in the park itself, just on the lake. I'm not even sure there is anything in the pond that it would like to eat, other than maybe a frog or turtle. But, it...

This is the first time I've seen pelicans near the shore of this park. Unfortunately, they decided to swim back to the middle of the lake before I had a chance to get the photo so it ended up being at a distance again.

It was hiding behind a park bench and didn't see me right away. I was able to grab the photo as it decided to swim back out into the lake.

This one didn't see me right away so I was able to get a little closer before it swam away (they are surprisingly fast swimmers)

They were all up right next to the shore when I got to the lake. But, by the time I got out of my car, they were back out where they normally are. I was able to get a couple photos though, including this one.

This pelican seemed to be getting pushed around by the water quite a bit. But, it held in there and kept swimming.

They, once again, were pretty far out in the water so I had to zoom in as far as I could to get a shot. This was the best of them.
