Watermelon Sales at the Farmers market

Photo of little rock's Rivermarket where the farmers market is open two days a week. Here you have a seller of watermelons and cantaloupes. Grown fresh right here in central arkansas and brought to the farmers market to consumers. Cuts out the grocery stores which tack on their prices as well.

A glass of milk---we're supposed to have it.

We should be drinking milk 4-6 servings of dairy each day. It keeps our bodies strong and teeth healthy. But at $5 a gallon, it's hard to drink that much when there are 4-5 people in your household. I love milk by itself or on cereal. The prices have gone through the roof.

money

A pile of money. That's what the corn producers are getting by selling to the fuel companies for ethenol production, rather than the consumers for feeding our families. Instead, we have to spend outrageous amounts of money for eggs, milk and corn.

Working hard

Working hard under the sun is a very tiring and requires perseverance and dedication. Farmers should be given the due respect that they deserve. Because without them, then there would be no or little food that will be provided to the rest of the population. Many will suffer from hunger without them. So i give my salute to all the farmers in the world.

Picture of a sign on the wall of an ice cream shop

We took this a couple of years ago on vacation. I can't remember where we were, but it was hanging on the wall of an ice cream shop we stopped into one day. My sister in law loves cows and so I thought she would get a kick out of the sign.

the butter dish at our table in a restaurant

My daughter took lots of pictures of silly things when she first got her new camera: the butter, her hamburger and french fries, her cousin with ketchup on her mouth. I love corn on the cob, cornbread and rolls... with butter so she took this picture before I used all the butter

ears of corn at the Little Rock Rivermarket

Photo is of a farmer's crop of corn, taken at the River market in Little Rock, where the farmer's market takes place on Tuesday and Saturday. You can see a wide variety of home grown fruits and vegetables there and purchase them for a fraction of the cost of the local stores.
