What happened to Halloween?

dollbaby @dollbaby (595) • United States 31 Oct 06

As kids, when we went trick or treating every light on the street was on. Now a days, it seems like no one is participating anymore. Is it just here or other places as well?

Chris62571 I took my son out this year while my wife and 15 yr. old daughter stayed home to hand out candy. Like you, growing up I remember nearly every light on and many years I remember not going to maybe half of the houses in town (small town of about 300), because...

Chris62571 More than likely the door lock actuator(s) have failed. They are basically a solenoid that moves the locking mechanism. I did a search on AutoZone, and PartsAmerica (Advance Auto) and those parts are not available at aftermarket retailers as of yet. They are...

Pine wood for fire place.

jolie112006 @jolie112006 (173) • United States 30 Oct 06

Pine trees are plentiful here where I live. Is pine a good wood to use in a fireplace?

1 response

Chris62571 Pine burns hot, but unfortunately it also burns quickly. The oils/tar in pine also make a nice fire stink. I addition, pine has a tendency to pop and crack and I have witnessed embers fly as far as ten feet from the fire. My recommendation would be to use a...

I am looking for the flat rate labor guide to replace the clutch in a 97 toyota 4 runner with a 4 cyl engine

Chris62571 Most repair shops/dealers are charging between $45 and $60 per hour for repairs. Replacing a clutch will more than likely have a 2.5 to 3 hour time frame, so figure around $150 in labor.

Chris62571 Yes, I'd take it. 500 dollars would go along way for us, so I would consider it a blessing and be on my merry way. Of course you'd have to wonder about their motives, but since I'm a pretty big guy, I'd not worry too much.
