Favorite New Wave Albums #5 - Fear of Music

Scott Ganschow @teamfreak16 (48564) • Denver, Colorado 3 Dec 18

I am a disciple of new wave music. It is what sparked my love of the broad umbrella known as alternative music, and I am paying tribute by counting down my favorite new wave albums. We are at #5: Fear of Music by Talking Heads....

Favorite New Wave Albums #4 - Parallel Lines

Scott Ganschow @teamfreak16 (48564) • Denver, Colorado 4 Dec 18

We are staying inside New York City's legendary CBGB scene as I count down my favorite new wave albums. Yesterday, it was Talking Heads, and today, at #4, Parallel Lines by Blondie. Surely you know all about Blondie! Formed in...

Pete Shelley Dies

Four Walls @FourWalls (89665) • United States 6 Dec 18

The “December surprise” music obituary hits in the gut again. Last year, it was Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens. This time, it’s Pete Shelley. Shelley, the lead singer and songwriter for the legendary British punk band the...

Favorite New Wave Albums #2 - I'm the Man

Scott Ganschow @teamfreak16 (48564) • Denver, Colorado 8 Dec 18

Honestly, as I count down my favorite new wave albums, I used a coin flip to determine #2, but here we are: I'm the Man by Joe Jackson. Sure, you are more than likely familiar with "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" and...

I Tackled The Monster

AmberLynn @ScribbledAdNauseum (104551) • United States 20 Nov 18

The Monster was not a spider or any other type of creepy crawly. It wasn't a mountain of laundry that's been needed doing. It wasn't scrubbing of the floors or vacuuming of the house. It wasn't even a good scrub down of the...

Our car isn't as clever as we thought

Judy Evans @JudyEv (390321) • Rockingham, Australia 13 Oct 18

Lenore Plassman (@sallypup) recently wrote about the car they hired recently. You just had to push a button and the engine would start. Our new-to-us car is much the same. It is a top-of-the-range Toyota Kakadu (see photo) and we...

Judy Evans This has a reverse camera too which I find handy when I drive it. If you don't do your seat belt up it starts beeping and doesn't shut up till you belt up - so to speak. My little car just has a red light warning about the belt. It doesn't go on and on about...

Has your child ever done this?

Courtney Dutton @MommyOfEli2013 (90961) • Rupert, Idaho 12 Oct 18

My son (who is almost 5 years old) has been constantly making a sound like he is clearing his throat. He did this quite a bit when he was sick a few weeks earlier, but he has kept up that habit once he got over his sickness....

josefina Probably a passing phase he'll outgrow. He might have notice how this got your attention when he was sick. I would just ignore it. Children are keen observers of adults and often test the reaction of parents to how far they can get away with their behavior.

Judy Evans I would have thought so too but it seems it comes from Gagudju, an Aboriginal language which used to be spoken in the area that is now the Kakadu National Park. It is a rugged place so I guess they thought it sounded tough for a 4WD vehicle.
