What happens to money dropped into fountains at a mall? Donate or Pocket?

My hubby and I were wondering what really does happen to the money dropped into fountains a malls? Does it get donated, deposited into a janitor's pocket or does it go to the mall to cover expenses? Anyone know?

helpingmomsathome I'm really glad the mall's actually use that money to help others :) It's good to know there are businesses out there that still have a heart.

helpingmomsathome That was extremely helpful! Thanks so much. I think I need to look into this further for my specific state and county. Rates seem to very quite a bit depending on where you live.

helpingmomsathome Thanks! I'm an at home mom now and would love continue. There were lots of at home moms in my area, but it seems lots of them are also searching for work outside the home just to stay afloat. I think I really need to look into becoming a babysitter or nanny...

Okay here's my situation. My son has a school project due 11/21/08. He must put together a Thankful Box full of items (can't be full of toys). I've run out of ideas. He's in 1st grade, so it needs to be somewhat age appropriate....
