manasij If you have a linux live cd try booting in with that.If it does not boot you can be sure that it is a hardware problem.And if it does,you can easily check for errors.

manasij The best ones are Canon,Nikon and Sony.If you are just a casual user and want to buy a nice camera you can opt from any of the three.But in case of Canon speaking in terms of capability,you can increase the features by using an unofficial firmware update...
