Dinner is a sandwich...

I was going to pick up the roommate & had a few extra minutes so I pulled into a Schlotzsky's and got us a couple of sandwichs.
Since I live in the Home of the Schlotzsky's sandwich shop, I think its a great sandwich. Even tho I can't eat lunch meat I get the cheese original, with no onions and easy olives.
Its the ONLY way I'll eat olives.

I can't stand olives either but I can eat them sometimes on a pizza, but I do not want to be able to actually taste them when I take a bite. They have such a dry tart taste. My husband and my daughter can sit and eat them right out of the jar though.

Yeah, I just don't like olives, and green are worse than black.
I have found that part of the "taste" of the sandwich is the olive taste, so I do leave them on, just ask them to go easy on them. I didn't like the sandwich as much when I had them left off.
I don't know that I ever saw my mom just sitting eating them, tho she'd eat them with a sandwich if they came stuck on a toothpick. I remember dad did it and my brother likes them. But I always was considered the weird one about food.

I know what you mean. I can eat olives on some things but I sure do not want to taste the. There are some other foods also I can eat as long as I don't taste it.
LOL. I don't think you are weird at all. You just have diffeerent taste buds than they do. I ate alot of Mexican food when I was pregnant with my daughter and ate alot of pickles. She likes noth of those too but I sure don't know how she acquired the taste for olives.

This reminds me of that time in Houston, at the Keep's parents' house, when you snarfed up a strange dip, & went back for more. Turned out it had oodles of black pepper in it, which you always said you hated!
Me, I love peppers...most kinds, anyway. Serranos (which I first tasted, to my pain & sorrow, in Chinese food, have a great flavor influence on other foods, but after I scorched my poor palate with a tiny nibble of one, I named them "Dragon's Teeth!" Heck, compared to those, jalapenos are like peppermint candy!
BTW, I must admit, I didn't taste the black pepper either.

Would you believe, I'm 54 and I've just learned how to cook bacon, because I can't eat the stuff. My client loves it so I've learned to cook it for her. In fact, I'm learning to cook at this late age because of this job.
I haven't eaten bacon in over 20 years, the last 3 times I ate bacon I went home sick twice and wish I had the 3rd time.

Oh i love Schlotzsky's they have such delicious sandwiches. We have a bunch of them here in Houston..I also like sub-way pretty good too, that is if you get a good sub-way, some are better than others.I see nothing wrong with eating a sandwich,it beats standing over a hot stove or trying to decide what you want to fix...

Before we moved out this way and I had more money to spend hubby and I would go to Schlotzky's a couple times of month. They did make great sandwiches, I wish there was one closer to home but there isn't and I don't always have the money for extras. One of their sandwiches does sound quite tasty right now.
