I just went through the mail I got yesterday and found 2 pieces addressed to someone else! And this is not an isolated instance! How is your mail? "It was this week in 1860, the first Pony Express mail was delivered. It took 3 weeks to get the mail across the country, half the mail was lost, and every postal worker carried a rifle. So basically, nothing's changed." - Jay Leno

I just received on Saturday a letter that had my daughters maiden name on it but it had the correct address. The funny thing about this is she lives in Alabama and I live in Florida. That alone just let me know that whoever is separating the mail is NOT doing their job. It is supposed to be separated by the zip code Not the name. This is one thing that happens all the time. People move but do not fill out the mail forwarding cards, nor change to their new address. We may as well learn to live with them as we surely can't change them. I spend at least 10 minutes a week just writing "not at this address" on mail I have received that should have been delivered somewhere else.

That happens to me all of the time. I get other people's mail in my mailbox and they get mine too. I have also missed some of my packages being delivered also because USPS does not get it to the right address. I have also had some bills not get to their destination either and it has cost me recently because of it. I have also got some checks out there floating around because of it. i think it is lack of responsibility these days if you ask me.

My mail service is just fine most of the time. Once in awhile when there is a substitute carrier we get mail for someone else. Same house number, three blocks west. We have more trouble with UPS and FEDEX not being able to find our house. Delivering our stuff to someone else.

That happens to me all of the time. I live in an apartment, and I am still receiving mail for the previous THREE tenants, and I have lived in my apartment for the past SIX YEARS!!! It's absolutely crazy!!! I just keep writing "return to sender" on them and dropping them into the mailbox up the street.

Hi raydene! Same thing happening here in our country too. Although, I must admit that there have been noticeable improvements in our postal system. However, there are still some reported cases of loss and some reports of delayed mail deliveries. I hope in the next years to come, postal service will be truly reliable. Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

it happened to me as well... even though it is not very often... i receive other people's mail in my mailbox and i just send it back to the post office and have them deliver it again to the correct address... it is annoying when that happens especially when we are waiting for important mail... take care and have a nice day...

I once had to mail some artwork out and they totally delivered it to the wrong address. I addressed it correctly and it still got delivered to an entirely different address. Luckily, the buyer got the artwork, but only after a lot of hassle. It made me mad because it was the first time I had ever sold artwork on this particular site and I wanted to make sure that I got good feedback. But, otherwise, I don't get much mail to begin with. And, sometimes I get mail addressed to someone else with my address. I think these companies assume people who associate with someone with the same last name as me know each other. I was getting mail addressed to my brothers long ex-girlfriend's mother or something whom I've never met.

I am always getting my neighbor's mail and they will get mine. I also get a lady's mail who lives the next street over but has the same house number as I do. It is sad but it is the way that the postal workers are. I agree that they have a hard job and the weather can work against them some, but I think a lot of it is just plain oversight.

LOL Well we have teh Royal Mail or Post Office - both are the same company they just have different name for some strange reason! If my regular postman is on duty our mailo is fantastic as he knows most people in the street but when there is a replacement on it can be downright ridiculous! xxx

Stamps have went up in price again, and the postal department wonders why everyone uses more email and text messaging! Packages can get sent UPS or Fed Ex and arrive in half the time. Postal workers make good money, and have excellent benefits, but I've had some that couldn't get a letter in the right box if their life depended on it!

We keep getting at least two or three piecesof mail that are addressed to people who must have lived in our apartment some years ago. then sometimes we get mail that isnt even addressed here but three or four streets over. I guess the mail sorters missed on those two items. Back in South Dakota where I used to live as a kid is remmants of the pony express trail and its kind of interesting as this trail is now bisected by fence lines and filled with cows now.

We get the wrong mail all the time. Sometimes it has our address but it's not us (or the people that lived here before, although we still get their mail after 4 years), sometimes it's not our address, but someone else in the neighborhood, and sometimes it's not even close to us. I always put it back in the box with a note on it - Not US or Not at this address. It's very frustrating because I wonder how much of my mail goes elsewhere before it gets to me.

I feel the need to defend my former fellow letter carriers but NOT my former employer, the USPS. The Post Office has been breaking the classic rule, "If it ain't broke don't fix it" for the past decade or so and they've really smashed it to bits. It used to be about providing a good quality of service to the public and building good public relations but now it's about nothing but the bottom line and SPEED of delivery. They implemented automation that sorts the mail out according to address but machines make mistakes and the workers aren't given the time to look out for them. I'm sorry to admit that while your carrier probably does care about giving you good service postal management doesn't give a rat's a$$ if you get that letter that's so important to you or that check you need so desperately. Sadly, you carrier won't get in a bit of trouble if the checks you send for your bills all get "lost in the mail" as long as he or she doesn't run into five minutes of unauthorized overtime which will cut into the postmaster's bonus. This happens to my husband and I all the time. We live in the upstairs of a house, the owners live on the main floor. They are an older couple, and occasionally mail for their kids wlll come here. Now, what really gets me is this: the kids have the same last name as the parents. But if it doesn't say "John & Jane Doe" (changed their names) on it, they deliver it to us. So even though it has the same last name as our landlords, which in now way closely resembles ours, they put it in our mailbox. The other thing that drives me crazy is anytime we order anything that has to be delivered and is delivered UPS or FedEx - even if we put EAST SIDE DOOR on the address, they put it on the west facing door - our landlords door. And it's not that hard to tell directions here, I live in a valley and the mountains are on the east and west side, Idaho is to the north, Salt Lake City to the south. Seriously - it's not that hard!!

I find that the same problem exists were I just moved from in Maine. We were still getting Mail for people that hadn't lived there in years. I think it's kind of screwed up. It probably plays a big role in all the identity theft going on these days. Part of the problem in apartments is that people are constantly moving in and out and not updating there adress with the post office.
