Okay my friends, maybe some of you could give me a clue what the heck is going on.
For the first time EVER, I keep getting this dialog box cropping up. It says something like Motorola Phone on top of the dialog box, and Incoming File Transfer for what seems to be a JPG image...Like HUH????????
I've had my own computer for over a year now and never got such a thing before. I click the decline button each time it crops up. How do I get rid of this annoying thing..I don't dare accept and open it since I don't even know what the heck it is.
Anyone ever get this?? Anyone have a clue what this is? It's friggin annoying...want to get rid of the darn thing but wouldn't know how..like I said I've never gotten this before.

I am not 100% sure but could someone have download the phone software on to your PC or do you have a wireless card that someone could be accessing? COuld also be a virus or some spyware you picked up somewhere.

What phone software on my computer?? LOL. I have DSL and a Mac computer.
Irish....well it hasn't cropped up for awhile...but it would sprout up on various pages not just here
Maybe if I just shut down my computer a bit, and reboot it might get rid of it???

Just because you have a Mac, doesn't mean you are immune to viruses, spyware ,etc anymore. In fact since there has been a surge in people buying Macs there has been a surge in
If someone in your house has that type of cell phone, they can download software to have the phone interact with your computer.

I live alone...and I don't have a cell phone...I can't imagine how if someone has a Motorola cell phone in my building it could affect my computer

Well so far it seems to have stopped unless who ever was trying to reach me like that gave up...maybe simply shutting down my computer for awhile and rebooting might get rid of it completely

I have not experienced the problem you have. I know how annoying these pop ups can be. Do you have your pop-up blocker on? I would check your blocker next time it appears.

Yup I do have pop up blocker. Found out what the problem is...all had to do with my bluetooth in my computer. I was picking up someone's bluetooth signals from a nearby cell phone

The only time I have seen something like that was when I was getting a virus. I know you have an apple and they do not have the virus that PC's get so I have not clue.

Since you said you are using a Mac, I'm assuming you use Safari to browse. Try resetting the browser and deleting cookies. Should help..

The problem seemed to have resolved itself by my simply shutting down my computer and then rebooting. Nope don't use Safari, as I found it limiting...use Firefox instead

Well it would have to be a Mac whiz rather than PC whiz that could help...LOL.our computers run differently

I would probably do an anti virus sweep or scan. Shut the whole thing down and restart it. I do not know if that would help, but that is what I would do. I sure would not open it.

Where are you online when this pops up?
Do you have a popup blocker working?
I've never seen it so I have no clue really.

I'd run a virus scan. If that turns out OK, do you have something like SpyBot? If not, you can get it for free == SpyBot Search and Destroy. You can run that and it will get rid of spyware and weird stuff like that.
I dont know what it is, but it sounds like somewhere you have picked up something that you don't want to remain on your computer.

I'm hesitant in downloading any kind of virus/spyware scan, and would need one compatible with my Mac computer...I contacted the tech team at Mac and my friend who has a Mac computer...maybe they can tell me what's up

Nope hate to say it I don't have anti virus except in my email addy. Mac computers are relatively safe from viruses since our computers run differently...most Mac users don't bother with protection. What I did do is shut my computer off, waited then rebooted...seems to have worked as I'm not getting that pop up anymore and its been a few hours now. Also my computer seems to be running as fast as ever...no sluggishness which I think would be a sign something was wrong..uh, right? LOL

Hey, pye, don't you already have anti virus on your computer? If you do, then just tell it to run a scan. Altho I have had Trend Micro find things that McAfee didn't in the past, so now I have Trend Micro as my anti virus protection. But a scan from your computer's anti virus should at least help if it comes back again before you hear from your friend about MAC.

yup sounds like you have some kind of adware bug in your system.
especially since it pops up on several pages.
i would recommend a scan and removal tool for you to use, but i'm not at all familiar with mac products.

hi pyewacket it sounds like a device to load a nice mean old
virus into your computer, probably shaming the Motorola Phone thing, as I doubt Motorola Phone would be sending this to you.I have never seen this particular one, but it sounds like a virus
to me. surely there must be a way to delete the thing. do you have a good anti virus program on your computer? I have free AVG 8 on mine and it detects all the different kinds of viruses and puts them in the vault to be disposed of. the jpg thing makes it almost certain its a virus.

I found out what the problem was as I posted this question to the Mac tech forum..seems it had to do with my bluetooth gizmo built in my computer...I was picking up a signal from someone's cell phone that had bluetooth in it...signals can reach out 30 feet....yikes

What your pop up basically is is spyware or malware. If you get pop-ups and you're not even on the internet, it's even a bigger chance of spyware. I would download and run an anti-spyware program. After the program has finished running, it'll ask you what you want to do with the detections. If the option is heal and delete, do that. If not, move it to quarantine where it won't disturb anything on your computer.
