Does ANYBODY know how many people it would take rating you negatively for your star to drop in color and rank? Secondly, what would it take for you to rate someone negatively and would you do it on just one of their posts or would you rate all of their posts negatively? If you didn't like someone's opinion would it cause you to dislike them overall? What in general would turn you off to a fellow mylotter?

Yes, my star is yellow again, but don't go to any trouble. Because I haven't been around like I used to, it just makes me curious as to why people find me threatening.

I also do not have any precise answer to your specific question. I think besides negative ratings, when some of the posts, which we had responsded in the past, get deleted due to one reason or another, our ratings also come down. I do not rate anyone negative. I try to rate everyone positive because I believe in positivity. If a reply is not upto the mark, best I would do is - that I would leave it without rating.

The very post which gets deleted may or may not be started by you, it might have been started by someone else and I agree with you, it is difficult to chase all the posts.

I suppose thats one reasonable explanation. I don't know what posts I may have responded to that may have been deleted. I never go back to check.

this is actually the type of question we are not allowed to ask on mylot, you must contact my lot they will tell you. It can depend if the opinion goes against everything I know and believe in, like I don't care for prejudice, so if someone is, I would just disconnect from them.

they don't like people saying stuff about how the system works, when it may or not be true, and I have seen many discussions deleted over it.

I don't see the problem with asking a question such as I have asked. Why would it cause problems just to ask someone's opinion?

I've turned off someone for the political season because all she's posting is political discussions, I'll go back in and turn her on after the elections. other then when my mouse slipped, I only ever negatively rated someone who failed to understand that I was making a specific statement about marriage - in the BIBLICAL sense - and she kept trying to twist it. I finally actually had to report her.

I don't blame you. I'm getting really tired of the political debate myself. Will it ever end? LOL.

I do not know myself. I know I spend three weeks talking avidly about controversial topics and my star fell once but thats it. I think it depends on your activity and maybe lower stars are vulnerable to falling faster.

Thats interesting. I never thought about it being dependent on your level of activity or that lower stars can fall faster. I'll have to think about that.

I guess that is one of the reasons why people tend to steer clear of controversial discussions for fear of their star dropping!

I have no idea. My star went from 98 down to 68 and I haven't even been posting much at all, so someone is going around negatively rating my old discussions and responses, I guess. I think it is only VERY SMALL minds that do this. It doesn't bother me. I have seen many good users with a very low rating, so who cares. I don't rate people negatively for disagreeing with their opionion. Only rude, mean, cruel or disgusting behaviour will get me to rate a post negatively.

I agree with you. Some of the best posters do have a lower score and its got nothing to do with the quality of their posts, just that there are people who don't like to see anyone get ahead for any reason.

I think the system is maintained that one person cannot continually rate someone negative or positive because they would be classed as a cheat and the priviledge of being able to rate would be stopped, correct me if I am wrong, so it would have to take more people to rate you negative for your star to drop. Secondly if you disagree with someone that is NO reason at all to rate them negative, this is a site about discussing and not everyone agrees with each other, hence it makes a good discussion providing it's done in an adult fashion. And finally it is very very hard to upset Wolfie and the only thing that would turn me off a fellow Mylotter is if they starting being nasty to another person, but that, thankfully has never happened.

No one is attacking me, but I do feel that someone doesn't care to see me get too much ahead. Does that make sense?

I dont think that it can be result of a single person. I don;t take notice of ratings much. Although high ratings is nice it does not say a lot on the quality of the postings.

It is my question also. I think that the rating is in scale of 100, so it would be something like dependent on the total post number and the number of ratings, i have seen today i have further lost my rating. don't know what is going on.

I have no idea. I have not even looked at my star rating lately. I know alot of people have had their star color go up and down alot. I do not rate anyone negative. I give them a plus or skip over it. The only thing that turns me off from any Mylot person, is constant harrassment or spamming me.

I have no idea how many people it takes to drop your star. I would imagine it would take more than a couple of negative ratings but i really don't know how that works. As for me, its pretty rare that I rate anyone negative and certainly not for disagreeing with me. Even if they are slightly rude about it, I don't usually hit that button. It is usually when someone is extremely rude & mean that I will hit it. No, I would not hit all of their comments negative....only the ones that warrant it. A difference of opinion would not cause me to dislike a person at all.It is how they express their difference that matters.

I think they would have to be pretty disrepsectul, like insulting another member, or just basically being abusing the site. I don't think I would go to all of their posts and down rate all of their postings, for one it is not that important to me, and possibly those other posts are legitamit and reasonable.

I was warned against posting on political discussion boards and sure enough I went from a ten down to a nine. Personally I don't rate people poorly unless their content is offensive and inappropriate. Even then I rarely rate them poorly, I just don't rate them at all.
