Pink and blue make green, do you think this is true?

November 13, 2008 Forget what you know about ROY G BIV and think about how kids are being told they are destroying earth by their selfish ways. No kid is going to guilt me into recycling and the fact that little ole me can destroy a planet is downright laughable. P.S. 666 is telling John and Mary that they are the cause of “global warming”, saving the planet won’t save your soul. Can I get some twig snappers to agree with me? If not, give me your best argument to save mother earth.

Now, I recycle what I can not because I think I can save the earth, but I do know that land fills can only hold so much. I would hope that by keeping what I can out of them, they might last a bit longer. And if they do reuse the plastics, that much less oil might be imported - good in my book! I'm glad I don't have to worry about any kids of mine being indoctonated, because I didn't have any. Not because there are too many people on the planet (tho there are too many bad parents) but because I didn't need to pass on my lousy genetic material - better it stopped with me. There are all kinds of reasons people shouldn't be allowed to breed (and sadly too many that shouldn't are breeding ARE) but at least I didn't pass on my allergies and migraines.

Sorry to hear that your allergies are that bad. Number 5 huh, that's just trash, I guess its better than leaving it on the street.

Without another child to sneeze, Kleenex will surely fold! Most people don't know that you can only recycle certain things. Anything with a number 1, 2, or 3 on the bottle can be recycled, everything else, land fill.

Sorry, but I'm just not getting my head around the pink and blue references you mentioned here..Should I take that to mean You're referring to your environmentally friendly recyclable packaging materials in your area being colour coded or something?

A bit of colour blindness creeping up on Me,I think..! Ok,I don't have a problem with kids being educated on green issues, but I do think a Guilt trip on the subject is a bit too much!

Pink for girls, blue for boys, I'm referring to little kids in school being taught that they are going to kill the earth.

Well! I can not give you a good argument as to why it is good to recycle and save the earth. I do not believe that the Ozone Hole is a real thing. If you look at the Ozone Hole Statistics you will see that they go up and down and not getting bigger each your as the tree huggers say they do. I also do not believe that Global warming is such a big issue. I think it is a natural thing. Yes, the carbon we pump into the air affects it. But so does a volcano. You they truly look at the world records they will find that the year that Krakatoa blew up they will find a very large level of carbon in the ice shelves that year and the next three years. I do recycle. But it is for my own benefit. I get money back at the recycle center for doing so. I use CFL light bulbs because in the long run it saves me in what I pay the electric company. I use low energy appliances and low use shower heads because it saves me money. If it impacts me I use whatever will benefit me. I am a believer in replanting forest because it allows for future wood production a lot faster then natural cycling. I believe in using an energy effecent vehicle because it saves me money at the gas pump. I believe in walking as much as possible because it not only saves me from having to put gas in my car but also allows me an opportunity to exercise. Which my fat rump needs all the exercise it can get. So do I support tree hugging. Yes! Because it benefits me.

Thank you for explaining your reasons and not shouting at me, I agree with some of your reasons and they are all good.

I am not really sure what your ps is referring to? But anyways, we're actually headed towards global cooling and the earth does everything in cycles every few thousand (or millions?) years and there's really not a whole lot you can do about it! However, I do think recycling is a good idea - I don't really like the idea of landfills! Plus, if we can reuse something, that's a lot better than it just going to waste.

I was being general about public schools and their silly outreach to parents. I agree with not filling up landfills and reusing a product is better than tossing it.

I don't think it is a bad thing to teach children how to recycle, and do little things here and there to make things better, but I don't think it is OK to guilt them in to it, or convince them to guilt their parents to do it. I think it is a personal choice. I think as long as people are not being abusive, it is OK. I don't do a whole lot for the environment, I do put my cereal boxes, milk cartons, and newspapers in the recycling bin, but usually don't worry about the cans, that is too much trouble to do consistently. I also do not do the re-usable grocery bag thing. I think that is just a way for someone to make money, and those bags are so small, you can't even put a lot of groceries in them, and there for you have to buy like 10 of them to put your groceries in. That's rediculas.

I don't know why I should argue with your attitude, it is what it is. Everyone seems to forget the elephant in the room. It is explosive population growth. About every 40 years the population doubles. So if everyone reduces carbon and energy use by a half, there will be double the population in 40 years so you are back where you started from. You would have to reduce carbon and energy use by 1/4 so that in 80 years you will be back where you started from. Humans do not realize they need the earth to survive, they are of the earth and will return to it.

I think maybe people are telling kids that they are destroying the earth so that they will want to make it better. It's kind of messed up ut kids are gullible. Maybe they want kids to go home and tell their parents about this so that the parents will care and maybe change their ways. I am all about saving the planet. I mean not to a fault cause I litter sometimes and I smoke so I guess that kills the planet but I am concerned about the place our planet is in right now.

I have always had a good respect for the environment, but not a guilt complex. I believe that doing what you can to help is important. That is not to say that I am perfectly green, but reasonably supportive of environmental responsibility. I believe we can go overboard in brow beating the kids in school.

Playing the guilty card will never work... i believe that teaching children how they can help in their own simple way it the best way to save or preserve the environment... It is so immature to tell innocent kids that they are destroying earth by their selfish ways... i would never say that to my own daughter or future kids...

You don't have to, the public school system will do it for you or against you.

I agree that kids should learn to be respectful of our planet and all but to be blaming them for it is ridiculous. I am 52 and I remember as a child walking and picking up more litter than you can imagine. That is not to mention all the factories and other things that those before even me were doing to destroy our planet. It can't be blamed on the kids of today for sure. This mess is not their fault but they should be educated so as not to continue the process or add to it. oh...and guilt is never a good motivater.

I dun really save mother earth.. Instead, i try to protect or al least minimise my damage to mother earth.. lol =D For, whatever we do affects mother earth, andin turns, mother earth shows its rages to us humans.. SO in the end, we are still the ones suffering all those natural diasters.. ANd so, why should we inflict pain and damage to ourselves for just a little bit of comfort? haha

Yeah I agree with you that people or individuals are really not the cause of global warming. Sure some people's practices, gadgets, etc contribute to the effects of global warming but its not the sole reason why this is happening. Its just the course of nature and I agree with you that no one will be saved from nature running its course. Unless technology advances in lightyears and actually find another planet and safe transportation where people can go to inhabit. There is no hope for this planet of ours because there is definitely a time when another ice age will happen. We cant really stop it but sure we can prevent it.

Well in my opinion this save the planet stuff is a bunch of junk that a bunch of lonely people are using to be seen and heard. A lot of it is a lot of rich ladies with too much time on their hands and nothing better to do. We need to start worrying about destroying ourselves instead of the earth. This earth is designed to take anything man will ever throw at it. We can't put anything in or on this earth that isn't 100% natural. It doesn't matter if it's plastic, used oil or TNT it all came from this earth and in time it will go back to the earth. Even smoke generated on this earth may go into the air but sooner or later it will settle back to earth. Mother Nature has a perfect recycling system built right in. If you are really worried about people killing other people go after these war lords starting right here in the US. I agree we need to do a lot better at controlling air and water pollution. The only problem we have with it is we are jammed up too close in some locations. In the larger cities we need to concentrate on transportation to get everyone around that doesn't pollute. That could be done with electric buss systems. That's the way they do it in a lot of places in Europe, or at least did in the past. I'll tell you what you better be thinking about in you live on the East or West coast. One of these days Mother Nature will clean out places like the New York City area and the LA Basin area. She will do it just like she does it with all the other animals. She will cut the food supply off and that will reduce the population in a hurry.
