I never have the habit of writing a diary. But my aunt has the habit of writing the diary daily. She wakes up till late night to write the day's happenings. She has more than 15 diaries (from 15 years). I just wonder if she will be reading them all again? How about you? Do you have the habit of writing a diary? Is yes, do you re-read them at any other day or year?

i used a diary to write about my feelings when i was a really messed up teen. i used it to write all the pent up emotions i was going through, and when i cutted myself, i wrote about how the experience was. i dont use vulgerities, but the words i used are rather mean and untrue as well. i purposely left it around, so my mom (the source of all evil, i thought at that time) could find it and read the contents. its a cowardy way, i know, but i was not thinking about it that time. that started a course of letter writing back and forth between us, and helped mended our relationship, and i have learnt more about my mother that i would not have if i have not done so. when i re-read that diary, i cant beleive how immuture i was and my cheeks sometimes burn with shame. i dont, however, write in a diary regulary. i just write in a notebook when i have something to write about. guess that particular diary was when i was having a really tough year.

That is a great idea. i think this is a best way to share your feeling and exchange your thoughts when you are not able to share /convey to the person directly.

I used to always write in my diary every day without fail my friend, and I kept my diaries for years and years and had a collection of them, but my ex invaded my privacy once and found one of my diaries and took it upon themselves to read it and they didn't like what they read and it all exploded! Since then I burnt all my diaries and have never written one since, whatever you write can be used against you. It has put me off writing in diaries for life, it was a terrible lesson to learn. I never forgave them for reading it.

That is really bad. I also hate this type of attitude. I feel that diaries are always a private property. Since diaries speaks the truth, it is very risky when someone reads them all. They can know all about you.

Yes. It's fun. When I was in high school, I looked over a few pages of the beginning of my diary that I wrote when I was in fifth grade and it was like reading thoughts someone else is having. It was strange, I know I wrote it but it feels a little foreign. Not in a bad way though because it's also part of my memory. It's just fun re-reading my diary.

i use to write a diary mainly ranting about my parents when i was around 14 or 15. At 18, i re-read it and found myself real dumb for some of the things i feel and did. i got sad over little trivial matters and were basically unhappy my parents "ruled" me & how much freedom the rest of my peers have. and of course the matter about relationships and how strict they controlled me. Oh the normal rants. but i was really pissed when my mum wrecked through my things and found my diary and thew it away. Obviously she read the content in it. Trust me, it had loads of vulgarities. But still!!! *argh* parents... haha

ha..ha.This is very common with the teens. I think almost all teens have a cold war with their parents..BUt above all, there is one truth under everything. It is all for our good that parents are having a control over us at that age.

I write a diary and I have about 10 old diaries already. I sometimes re-read my old diaries, and it is a great way to remember the past. My first diary starts in 1999 and when I re-read it I noticed that I have changed more than I thought. There are many things that I would have done differently now and things that I have a different opinion about. There are some parts of my old diaries that I don't like to re-read and that are the parts about my ex-boyfriend. I will probably be able to re-read those parts one day, but right now it still hurts too much. When I was 13 I also wrote a diary, I haven't kept it, but I did read some of it before I threw it out. I laughed so much when I read it and I just couldn't believe how childish I once was. It was so much fun to read...

I do write a diary but not on a regular basis..I have 4 diaries full with memories of my boarding and higher school life..The college one is still continuing! I do sometimes re-read my diary and it brings back a whole lot of past memories..I do read it when I miss my boarding friends or when I know it must be snowing there and the Sun is bright over here and etc etc..Have a nice day!

I have started writing recently. Actually one of my friends gave me this sweet little diary on my birthday last year with a quote in it which was -"Reveal to me the innermost secrets of your hearts and I promise to keep them(a secret) for you" so I though this would be the best way to utilize that diary. SO I write in it ever since and re-read it occasionally. It feels nice to re-read through the stuff...

Wow, more than 15 diaries? I wonder will your aunt have time to re-read that all. I don't write a diary anymore but I used to when I was younger. I found my old dairy few months ago, and of course I re-read it. I was just curious what I wrote there and remembered some nice things and happenings...
