Why do we have a tracking system in our pockets? I do not....and never intend to have a cell phone. If i go out i do NOT want to be contacted by my wife! I only want to be contacted by alien life forms if it is to interupt a pint of lager! They are tracking devices for the government and for your partners. why do we need them? throw them away and release yourself from married chains! Agree or disagree?

LOL Isn't technology wonderful? I do always have my mobile with me and I don't mind the other half tracking me down - If I'm at the pub he has either driven me there or pushed me down in the wheelchair and if I didn't have the mobile he would just call on the pub phone anyway! lol You know what though if you don't want to speak to the wife or be tracked by the government ( I know being followed all th etime must be a pain - but it is just cos you are fantastic) you can turn the phone off. No one can call or track you!!! lol xxxx

Was that when you were off trying to track down Uncle Alfie? If only he had had a mobile you could have tracked him down a lot easier!!!! xxxxx

This may come as a complete surprise to you but there an amazing anti-tracking device built into each and every cell phone. Wait for it .... it is called the 'OFF BUTTON'

OOuchhh!!!! but seriously, i worked for a major mobile company until last year and the police can request sim id which pin points you to 3 yards....on or off! Technology is fab!

Hmmm. I think off is really off. I mean, where does the power come from for your phone to transmit the info back to Big Daddy. But I agree, when it is on it is talking back to base. Have you ever placed your mob next to a radio? You can hear the mob chirruping every few minutes as it transmits.

I totally agree with your viewpoint about cellphone radition while i notcame across any discussion saying this like this.however, when i started the discussion with same subject, i not receive any response.thereafter i jst thinking tht nobody dare to speak against their cellphone althrought its different that they know how harmful its radidation and tracking system too.

Wow do you have something to hide? I do not in fact as someone who has a spouse who once had a heart attack, I am kind of glad we both carry one. There are bigger things in life to worry about that a phone, besides I like having a lifeline even if it is only for emergencies. It also frees me from my home phone, is an asset to my business ( real estate) and it does not track when it is shut off. So If I do not want to be found ( which unless I become a fugative) will never be the case.

Well again, for me that is NOT a negative thing. And consider this, if you have Ez Pass, it does also.

i can see the point in having a mobile if your husband has a history of illness. i borrowed a mobile in the last month of my wife's pregnancy so i could be contacted if needed. other than that, no mobile no contact!

I for one don't have one of those horrid devices that has any service. I don't know if the police and the little green aliens can reach me or not but if WalMart is going to instal a system to where someone finds a can of soda on the ground and scan it, if it was bought at WalMart they'll be able to tell when it was purchased then nothing suprises me. I have a landline and email and messenger. If you really want to get ahold of me, you know how. *Pleiades

When cell phones first came out I absolutely hated them. It really bothered me to see people at the grocery store yelling at a cabbage or carrying on a romantic conversation with a pot roast! If someone wants me, they can wait til I get home. If i wanted to talk to them, i would have brought them with me in the first place. I think theres nothing ruder then when you see someone at a bank counter or lineup of some kind being served and talking away on their phone and not even acknowledging their server. I would like to yank the phones right out of their hands when I see this. We are becoming a world of chatter boxing robots.A new meaning to walkie talkies!... I have to admit I do have a cell phone now but only after I took a job where I was travelling alone at night. I bought it for safety reasons. It came with a 3 year contract. Now that I no longer need the phone, it sits on my table, turned off. Dont bother leaving a message, cause I wont see it ever!! Im thinking it might make a nice conversation piece for the bottom of my fish tank though!

good idea! a mobile at the bottom of the fish tank! i had a mobile for 3 weeks when my wife was near to dropping our sprog. after that i threw it back at it's owner! (the mobile, not the sprog!)

That's one of the main reasons I don't want one. Not that I have a spouse that wants to find me, or parents, or am some sort of criminal or anything...they just...bother me. Like you said, why would I want to carry a tracking device inside my pocket? *shrug* My life is fine without it.

LOL! I get your point entirely! It can be most annoying being contacted by anyone when you are out and about! However I have young children at school and the school have contacted me a few times when I am out because my kids need me. Also I have a teenage son, he uses his to contact me so that I know his were abouts and when he will be home etc. So for all their bad points, mobile phones do have some good points about them too x

Man, you're pretty paranoid, aintcha? I hate to break it to you but aside from the off button, you are still in peril because your wife knows where you normally hang out and can *show up there*! Which would be worse...knowing where you are via the cell phone or catching you in mid-grope in some club?

I agree they are tracking devices. If I'm away from home I really don't care to be contacted because I'm doing something..lol..If I'm at home..call away...I'll answer and we'll chat..or I'll come in to work but if I'm out..I'm just that.

I know cell phones are useful, but they are also tracking devices, why would I want to carry a tracking device around? I don't have a cell phone, and I am saving big bucks along the way :)

Only some cell phones can be tracked by the law/police & that is only if the phone is in ON MODE.. can't be tracked in OFF MODE, with or without the sim card. And as being a tracking device for my partner, oh well... I have nothing to hide, so I can careless... I guess people that are wanting to hide something would be the ones worried in a situation like this...

Being track through my cell could be a good thing if I was trapped in a cave on a mountain and needed help. I am not worried about receiving unwanted calls. I have this cute option of silence and decline. I can silence the call and it will go straight to the voice mail or I can decline the call completely. That is about equal to hanging up on them.
@xboxboy (5576)
27 Feb 09
that is a good option. but i will still not bother with this contraption as i have no intentions of being trapped in a cave. would you get a reception if you were in a cave?
